It's a fun game if you like trading/production games.

I'd like to see each of the characters reworked though, only the Trader has a truly good skill that leads you into that playstyle. If the pirate had a +50% boarding power or something as equally silly, it'd be way more fun to go raiding ships & selling boarded vessels. It'd also be nice to create a pirate hideout, but that's DLC territory.

The combat system is also fun, but it needs balancing - if the "autoresolve" option says I'll win with no losses, I shouldn't lose 6 combat ships. Also, it seems that the AI can pump out ships a lot faster than you, with much better captains, but that may just be confirmation bias at work.

It's good - even better than Warband when I ignore the Nostalgia factor.
Unlike Warband, mods aren't a necessity here. They are good though.

As a cis-gendered trans-buffalokin, I especially enjoyed playing the 5-player co-op mode with my herd.
This game makes me so hungry, it's depressing; make sure to order some burgers and fries before playing! Preferably from 5 guys, burgers and fries in their new shop.

I would recommend this game a thousand times over. Ridiculously fun to fiddle with all the sliders and policies until you've made yourself a fantastic utopia. A fantastic utopia with a surplus of cash and a reserve of several trillion. With 0% of your population being a certain faction. Amazing game. Buy it. 10/10 like skyrim with guns without guns.
