Slow pacing can make it a chore at times, but there's a gem underneath Kojima's existential escapade.

You should at least try to get past the tutorial zone (get on the boat)

I imagine the feeling of raising an Uruk from a lowly Grunt to an Overlord, and then sending him off to fight another player's Overlord, is similar to the feeling of encouraging your ugly child to fight the other kids at the playground.

I only played the co-op section, and it was by far the most fun of any co-op game we'd had.

LAN with 3 other friends, there's nothing like 4 people screaming as they melee down a giant zombie because there's no ammo left, and you're stuck in the middle of a narrow pier walkway.

The technical issues aren't too hard to get over, but they do exist.

Takes the L4D formula and improves it overall. The addition of gear drops and leveling adds a great feel of progression to keep you playing.

Each tier of difficulty for missions completed introduces a higher tier of gear drops.

Unfortunately, running the highest difficulty missions (Cataclysm) does not reward you any better than the 2nd highest tier (Nightmare), as they share the same loot drops at the end of match.

After beating missions at Cata, you will realise there is no incentive to continue playing because the loot drops are the exact same as the previous tier (even with tomes and grim).

Having sunk 35 hours in with mixed orange/red gear and only reaching level 33 (played with friends, all got to similar level), I have no idea how people stick around to reach triple digit levels, let alone levels in excess of 1000.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great game to play once in a while casually. But if you're looking for challenge and reward, you won't find it here.
