It's not a sim, it was never supposed to be. What it is, is a letter of love. Is it perfect? No. But it still captures the vibes of ace combat to the point that I can't put it down. Oh and of course, "Yarr harr, 1 million lives"

This Game has issues but it's also one of the best tactical FPS's to be released in the last years. It has a good mix of different playstyles that cater to different players and doesn't shy away from trying new things every once in a while with the newly released playable operators. This does lead to some imbalances but I do like how you will not usually see the exact same composition of ops every game.

This game is highly competitive but that should not scare away anyone not well versed in FPS's. Playing the tutorials offers a basic understanding of what the game has to offer and the community can be welcoming if you approach it in the right way (This means not intentionally ruining games or tilting off the face of the earth because you die a couple of times, K/D isn't so so important while getting into a game). Of course there will be trolls and griefers but you can find individuals or groups who are willing to assist in the more advanced aspects of the game. Or you can learn yourself thanks to the amazing amount of resources availible to you however I'd recommend finding a team instead of soloing in this game due to the intense tactical opportunities it offers.

The ops are all relatively well balanced but usually there will be times where certain ops are better than others. This usually happens during big patches or the beginning of new seasons when ops are first introduced into the general population. However this game maintains a relatively large roster of ops and as such, as already mentioned, offers a variety of ways to deal with a certain situation. E.g.: Would you rather make a huge hole in a fortification or many smaller ones? Would you rather see an enemy coming with extra cameras while being relatively loud or use stealth to surprise them? As such tactics develop over which ops are chosen from both sides.

Naturally I should mention flaws as they will become apparant while playing. For one, it's a Ubisoft game which might be offputting for one and also means that patches aren't as frequent. Also there are some bugs and netcode issues which do plague the game although Ubi is putting in effort to fix these and they aren't as problematic as they once were. Another thing is no campaign or story unlike the last Rainbow Six games which might put off the more casual players, but it does not substract from this truely amazing game. Lastly, hackers, trolls and griefers do unfortunately exist in this game. They aren't as prevalent as they once were but they do sometimes occur. This should not put you off playing the game though.

All in all, this game offers a lot and lets you experience a true mondern tactical FPS. While there are moments where i did put the game down, it's merely because I've just played 7 rounds in a row and need to calm my nerves for a few minutes before continuing. A fantastic game that will keep you excited every step of the way.
