Short, cheap fun. No notes

A great sequel that stays true enough to the fluid combat and gameplay of the original but avoids the mistake of making Melinoe a female version of Zagreus, instead making her a wholly unique character from writing to gameplay. It's not perfect compared to the original though, namely progression is rather slow regarding upgrades compared the Mirror of Night from the original and a much smaller cast of gods compared to the original, something I hope gets addressed with major updates.

Even in its current state though, it's still a worthy successor and a worthwhile purchase for new and old fans alike.

I previously rated this game Not Recommended due to the tight timings of the days and the harsh difficulty of not getting runs past the first ten days among other smaller annoyances such as the egregious amount of load times despite loving the aesthetic and the characters.

I then shelf the game for about a year and went back to try it again after numerous updates and found the difficulty tuned much more favorably and I actually managed to beat the game my first try back with no issues. My pros remain the same with the art style of the game and animation of the characters being as charming as ever and the dialogue as you progress more into a character's relationship can tackle some harder topics such as child abuse, capitalism-induced trauma, and imposter syndrome (yes these are real topics you talk to characters about) they never delve too deep into those topics and the game as a whole remain very wholesome.

Still would like to see an easy mode added where each day was split into a few more time slots so I have more time to talk to characters and actually try and max out my relationship with all of them in one run. A reduction in loading screens is also a really needed change to the game. There are still way too many loading screens and it gets really annoying. Seriously why does going to brew and exiting go through loading screens, it's pretty ridiculous the amount of time you spend in loading screens because each of them are only a few seconds but the sheer number of them makes it really apparent. I would much rather have a few long loading screens rather a bunch of short ones. Also would really like to see a freeplay mode after paying off your debt with a few more regions to adventure through like a DLC or something.

All the above problems (maybe not the DLC thing) can also be solved by adding modding support and having the community take care of it which this game could really benefit from if the support is done well.

Overall, game is pretty good now with a few annoyances still, but definitely worth a shot since it manages to scratch that min-max itch in the back of my brain and remain cute and wholesome throughout
