Suikoden II is worth the entire price, hands down my favorite JRPG, just barely in front of FFVI

The settlements and settlers which is probably my favorite aspect of the game. You build living settlements, each settler can perform tasks, and you can set settlement storage and work orders so they automatically process materials. You can customize their equipment, take them along on adventures, can't capture them in some kind of spherical item yet but there's workshop support so that will happen I'm sure.

The world is comprised of a bunch of islands, the player travels to the edge of each map and can then sail to nearby islands. There's several biomes, npc settlements, pirate bases, and dungeons, and each biome has an underground layer you can access by building and placing a ladder on the island. You mine and gather materials, find treasure, progress til you're ready for the first boss, the Elder settler will give you quests to guide you to the biome you should be in and give nice rewards too.

Its worth it even if its not on sale and never gets another update, but the updates show no signs of stopping.

Fun game so far, challenging but not impossible, and exploring the world really reminds me of super metroid back on the snes combined with dark souls. Also a lot of funny moments so far, really delightful.

Totally fun game, imagine a cross between oregon trail and star trek, so good.
