I'm tired, so I won't go into the details, but this game has so many issues, like not being able to restart a level or the plot being incoherent, that either weren't tested or somehow got though testing even though they have blatant issues. I really do not recommend this game overall if you are looking for a Rhythm Doctor experience and not a Beatblock arcade-y game.

Game is fun, game is clippable and meme-able, however it does take a little bit of time to understand it. Don't play on the official servers except for like, 1 round to understand what is and isn't vanilla. Current exit rework is pretty bad, but game is still okay.

The ToS contains an arbitration clause that you can only opt out of by sending Certified Mail to their legal department. If you cannot do that, or don't want to spend time doing that, you shouldn't play this game.
However this doesn't apply to "Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom, or the European Economic Area," quoted from their ToS, so if you're in one of those countries then you can play this game without worry.

This game was made by Toby Fox, do I really need to tell you that it's good?

Edit: The recent updates that have come to the game have addressed many of the issues that I brought up in my original review(not the story, but I'm warming up to it a little). I want to change my stance on waiting to buy the game to a "buy if on sale," as I now feel positive about the direction things are going, and the capability for this to be a great game.

For starters, the "Lose 2 lives when dying on a challenge" bug has been patched, as well as many other bugs, and the devs are very vigilant with the discussions page. Communication between dev and player is amazing, and the game is always getting good changes. Last thing due to time, they recently improved how procedural generation works, which proves to me that they are very capable devs.

This game is still an Early Access game, but with the direction that things are going, I can confidently say you can bet on this game being good.

Original review:
This game is not a full game. This is an Early-Access game. And it is VERY early.

The base gameplay is amazing. Zooming through giant landscapes, running at Mach speeds, flying through the air, tight spaces... It feels awesome. However, there are a TON of issues with the game(which is why I say this is an Early-Access game)

I will address the biggest issue first: the bugs. This game is extremely buggy. No, not your average "clipping into a wall" bug or a "sudden speed gain" bug, but bugs like "You die immediately on the next stage if you fail a challenge, consuming 2 of your 3 lives." The bugs in the game aren't small, rare, or out-of-place, but they are consistent and they heavily affect your experience with the game.

Now for the non-technical issues. I will just put them into a bulleted list.
  • Despite being constantly told you need to run because the world is ending, you always seem to find yourself in dialogue.
  • The tutorial teaches players the wrong habbit, only preaching perfect landings and using board to gain speed and ignores a vital mechanic that... apparently the developers don't understand themselves?
  • Characters other than the main protagonist are bland and have no depth whatsoever.
  • The narrative doesn't make sense, it expects you to know and connect with characters you have never seen before
  • The narrative detracts from the entertainment value of the game
  • The fact that there is a narrative at all.
  • Did I mention the narrative?

Overall, this game is very unpolished and needs more time to cook. Thus why I say it is Early Access. You will have fun in this game, but I would 100% recommend that you wait until the issues in the game are fixed before buying it.

Amazing, fast-paced gameplay, a lot to replay here, along with great animations and music; this game deserves all the hype it has gotten and more. I would recommend this game to anyone who hasn't heard about it or played it.
