Honestly I love the premise. I love world of warships but every time I get into it, an update drops, and I don't have a super computer with 99gps bandwidth to download it, so I quit. This game is much like that, but as an MMO. That part, wind direction, and the gameplay is fantastic.

What puts me off of it is the typical 'world of everything' paywall, and the absolute horrible grindy grind that's so common with these games.. just to replace a single cannon if I sink, from a cash money ship.

I'm never going to play a second job.. If you want resources (nay you need resources), you can claim mines, but you can only craft / generate X per day.. each port can only do X types of crafting because there's a hard cap, so now on top of sailing for hours between endless waves of pirate squadrons to transfer cargo from A to B, you also have to ferry everything everywhere just to make one dang stupid thing, OR, give them lots of money for fake money to constantly 'rebuild' whatever trade you want to craft.

Thumbs down for horrible economic execution. If you're ok with sailing the noob ship forever and ever, it's fine. If you want to move on, well.. be prepared to spend a week or a month just trying to find enough junk to complete the third part of the main quest.. ugh.. and you can only have three quests open at a time, two of which will be the main stuff. Can't believe I actually threw a bit of cash at it. Just not fun once you start trying to do something other than WASD and left click every 10 - 15 seconds.

I want to like it, and I did like it until I started trying to character build. It's not worth my time.

Well hey that was a fun Sunday.

Pros:
It's a space ship 4x game.
There is actually some strategy.
All I wanna do is a pew pew pew and a boom boom, just troll AI.
Some of the battle maps pose a bit of a challenge.. just a bit.

Cons.
No separate fleets, or need for one. It's a spreadsheet with pretty graphics, minus the micro management.
Tech is incremental and no real losses.. if your ships blow up you just repair them.
Can't troll the AI, and when the you own over half the map you win... can't do total annihilation.

I've never been a Sid Meiers' fan.. ever.. at all, I've hated every game he's ever made, this one is decent.
Worth the price on sale at least. Not much replayability. This game style has potential, but nobody ever taps it.

Guys, I want Space Empires back, but new. This is close, but it needs wayyyy more under the hood.
Overall, 6/10.

Good lord, guys, I was there for and since the first one for MS dos, and this is by far the most annoying AITD yet... You know where you can stick your talisman puzzle right? It makes absolutely NO SENSE!! The clues are simple enough, I knew how the old devs thought but you went out of your dang way to make sure that even the answers I find are wrong.

That out of the way.
Pro's:
The series isn't dead yet, although they're trying really hard to kill it.
It's uh.. "re-imagined" alright.. I guess..

They did get a jump or two out of me, albeit, the pixelated joke monsters from the dos days struck more fear into me lol

Carnby isn't the tough guy he was that I remembered, but otherwise, the voice acting isn't bad, and the environment is pretty sweet.

Are you more interested in snooping around and looting than you are shooting? Still has that going for it, detective work was kind of the point of the series.

It's SORT of true to the original decerto story... so far anyway.

There's some dark and surprise jumps.

Cons:
It looks and plays like every other game out there - they should have kept the original room camera style play with searching, instead of showing me where things are.

Puzzles are frustrating. You know the answer, you're doing the right thing, but NOPE, keep at it for another 30 minutes. Again, you guys know where you can stick your talisman right? I CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW THE ASL:KDFJ TO AIM IT... and take that wall puzzle portrait astrological thing with you, that was ridiculous.

Did you like using strategy guides in the old days? Wellllllll you're going to do the same thing with youtube.

Choppy choppy choppy... no more choppy game play.

Monsters are rather unimaginative and should have stuck with the classic take.

Burnout comes quickly.

Billy Madison voice: "Talkey talkey talkey... No more talkey.."
Cut scenes are a bit excessive and drawling, but the overall game play is - FUN.
Developers take note - FUN sells games lol

Have to level up like any RPG. Hoping there's a new game+ because otherwise you're not going to see what's in all the neat locked up stuff you ain't 'upgraded' enough to understand yet. Still fine. Very extensive, too. I spent all dang sunday just on the first real mission after the intro running secondary objectives. And don't worry, Ed209 is as reliable as he always was.

If you're looking for run and gun, this is not it, you're robocop. A walking tank made of tin-foil at first, but you get better. Missions can be pretty dang rough - but so far, I haven't died in battle yet.. though I did have to set it down to easy for a time. Just not enough fillups in some parts of the game, and others are just trolltastic.. looking at you mine fields.

Ok, I love it...
It's a typical greed fueled paywall world of whatever that probably funds the russian mob for all I know, but this is the ONLY combat oriented game I've stumbled on where you can slap together your own vision with random junk, and go to war with it. The crafting new rigs is what I'm in for, all the way.

The in-game currencies are confusing and obscene, and way over priced.. but of course it's an arena paywall.
you don't NEED to give them money it's just easier if you pay off the boss here and there, but if you want mid to end-game gear? Well, better open up that bill fold... I hate when that happens, but again... There's no other game out there like this right now. If it keeps the server on, I don't mind dumping a 20 here and there.

Pros:
I get to collect random parts and build a likeness of what I want to see to fight in.
Battles are fast, so I can pee in between.
Hahhahaha pewpewpew
Player to player marketplace to trade your goodies.
FUN. Stupid stupid simple fun.

Cons:
Two kinds of in-game currency Plus battle passes... good luck if you can figure out which one that is. Market is awful.
There's always one... there's always going to be that one dude from 'the jerk' who pegs you as that one random run of the mill expletive over and over and over.
Not many people play this so while you DO meet many players, most of what you'll pew against are bots.
Crafting... woefully awful, and the game is horribly grindy... If you're happy just doing a zoom zoom zoom and a boom boom, you're fine. If you have to loot lord and be the king, hah, run along little one.

You can craft/upgrade new gear with the things you find and/or build from scratch with resources, but they come slow, and you're going to wait a LOT for the builds to complete - unless you want to pay more money for right now. Also you can buy much of the resources you need FOR??? You guessed it, MORE money.

Paywalllllllllll but dang it's a fun one.

Play the first one until this one is done. It's a bit janky, but playable.

I love everything about it EXCEPT THE OVER ABUNDANCE OF STEALTH CRAP STOP IT!!
STOOOOOOOOP!!!!!!!!!

5/10 because I'm probably never going to finish it because STEALTH... I'm supposed to STEALTHILY find my way out of the middle of an army that's patrolling 20 dang miles of perimeter with four dudes elbow to elbow every 30 feet, walking EVERYWHERE, and with me almost maxed out on stealth,, THEY CAN STILL FRICKING SEE ME. STOP IT!

If it wasn't for the constant stealth prisons, I'd give it 9/10.

Well man where do I start lol.

Pros:
Brought to you buy the same dudes that brought us space quest
Same type of game
Brain breaking at times (I still have NO Fricking idea what I was supposed to do at the end, seriously WTF)
Rooter... I love the robo dog entirely. More so since I'm actually a maintenance man.

Cons:
Libit buggy
Story is kinda crap, the puzzles are where all the fun is
Not enough slap stick dry humor / self deprecating jokes / funny death traps

Overall I'll give it a 6/10.
I'd love to see the two guys do a sequel after having the cobwebs blown off of game design.
Amazing comeback, but they can do better.

Loved it, spend my Saturday playing it - but not really worth a replay

Well I'm not entirely sure what I expected. I got it to kill a Sunday in VR.

I've started many new scenarios because I pretty quickly overload my PC's abilities with flying debrie.. Anyways, I tried to sit around and craft a habitable planet in the habitable zone but that turned into boring work and the UI is kind of a huge pain in the aaaa-rear. Plus I have no way of knowing where the hab zone is so I just kept throwing stuff into space. Anyways long story short I started throwing bigger planets at earth until I got tired of that and then blew up the sun. Uranus was the last surviving planet. It drifted off into deep space, turned into a frozen ball of gas and then mysteriously despawned.

I mean there's some pretty sweet potential here. I made trinary star systems but my VR could barely keep up, failed at making a 'habitable planet', destroyed the SOL system... It was a good time.

"I want a silly game to play for a change. Hey what's this??"
"... How did it get to be 11pm so fast?" ..

Gameplay overall is pretty simple, but so were Atari games so I'll totally give it that as a bonus.
Definitely giving me some bad pitfall flashbacks with some of the 2d games lol

Strangely the bug smashing bits are some of the most fun.

The interruptions are pretty amusing, I just wish the NPC's had some reaction when i start repeatedly throwing food at them.

9/10 because I can't return the annoyance to the NPC's.
