"Friends" on an online platform are hardly ever real friends, I see them more like companions or like-minded people.

It is also a bit weird, it seems so unreal to just add people to your friends list or send a friend request without even talking to that person, but I still do it.

In real life I have 2 best friends and they are also on my Steamlist, I really don't need more.

I still have to say that over the years on steam I have found some truly memorable people I really like, from all over the world and I enjoy talking to them from time to time or play with them.

But that is rare, friendship is rare, and only as I grew older I started to realize how valuable true friends are and how hard it is to maintain a friendship.

So many friends I had I lost because I didn't care enough or vice versa, that's just the way it is.

I don't blame you, those bot accounts/scammers are honestly gross. I get a LOT of em since I used to trade on counter strike, they check Steam APIs and all the nooks and crannies trying to find people to mess with.

Honestly disgusting how these people spend more time trying to make a dishonest living stealing or misleading others than they do doing something actually useful. :/

It's just Steam culture, it's a bit strange, but the variety of emoticons from thousands of games allows you to choose some special one for certain content

I can see how that works now, though I admit it was hard to understand since I've admittedly never used emotes in that kind of manner before. Nothing bad, imo, in all honesty - it only made things feel like some kind of "bizarre language barrier composed of images."
