Helltaker but with yuri at the tradeoff of less angels and demons. Oh - And also INSANELY harder. It's peak I'm afraid...

Early Access Review
Genuinely one of the freshest breaths of air into a semi-mmo-but-mostly-just-a-regular-rpg genre I've played in a long time, and it's not even close to being done yet. I do not write steam reviews often but this one absolutely deserves the recognition. The combat is fun, the exploration is rewarding, and even the grindier aspects are the most fun I've ever had doing such activities in an RPG game. Play it NOW!!!!

A short, but incredibly memorable game. Everything from the visuals to the music are all incredible. The game's short narrative is perfectly guided by the two narrators, and there are plenty of secrets to find on a second playthrough. Honestly, there are so many details in this game I'm still noticing new ones on my 3-5th playthroughs of these levels. Incredible game and I can't wait for the workshop levels to be released so I can play even more, lmao.

I think Hot Lava is an interesting game.
The basis of it is really fun. And I recommend it on almost that alone. The movement mechanics are incredibly fun and they will draw you in - especially if you have friends to compete with scores against. The first couple levels are also super fun - They're different in structure but they both give a sense of deep nostalgia for childhood along with being very fun and open playgrounds to jump around in. The later levels of the game however, feel empty. There are some cool ideas present - Jumping around a shopping centre or a school sound fun in theory, but they seem to fall short in a lot of ways both gameplay wise and visually. The final level especially seems to have cool ideas, but falls completely flat with the last stage of the game, something almost hinted at to be quite meaningful to the background story this game has, being a complete boring letdown with basic structure.
All this said, this is a fun game. I'm not sure if Klei exactly feels like its important to them, as their focus seems to be on Griftlands at the moment and, again, it seems the final half of this game is a bit empty. But this is still a genuinely enjoyable experience that's at LEAST worth buying on sale. I had a lot of fun with this game and I'm still thinking of going back to beat my scores. If you like parkour maps in source games or any of that sort of thing, you will enjoy this game.

Fantastic game. I had to write this review for the Steam awards thing, but trust me - This game is an awesome experience, and you should seriously play it.

Okay the single player is this game is great, it operates by a points system and it's quite addicting.

However, then you get into the meat of the product. The multiplayer. You play to get as many points as possible, but die before the other player. Ah well, you got 30 points and they got 11... Wait, what? They still won? Why?

For some reason the multiplayer operates by a survival mechanic instead of a timer formula or some sort of high score formula where if you die the other player continues until they beat yours or die themselves. The points are there for literally no reason and the survivial mechanic just makes zero sense and is honestly pretty unexciting.

If the multiplayer was changed, this game would definitely be worth the small amount of cash to buy it.

EDIT: This game has been updated but still suffers the problem of a survival based system. It's better, but still not as good as it could be.
