The gunplay is stellar, as is always the case with Bungie games, and the artstyle is truly unique. A very compelling take on the extraction shooter, fast paced and a strong balanced mix of PVP and PVE.

Performance has simply degraded to a point of the game being no longer enjoyable, playing on the highest difficulties is less about the actual difficulty and sadly more of a struggle against low fps correlated with the engine straining beneath the weight of the increased enemy spawns. If the performance can be addressed in a meaningful way, vie optimization and the addition of modern conveniences (native frame generation and DLSS) I look forward to changing this review back to positive.

Early Access Review
GGG has decided to block the use of a popular Ultrawide fix to remove the arbitrary black bars, and as a result I can no longer enjoy the game to the same degree that I had been. I feel that I got my money's worth out of the first couple of months, but will no longer be playing at an inferior resolution arbitrarily, I'm quite disappointed.

Elden Ring is my first foray into any souls-like game, and my first 18 hours have been a truly incredible experience. So far I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a truly challenging open world rpg, though the performance issues and lack of ultrawide support are definite pains. Despite its issues I do believe that the game is a uniquely incredible experience, and if you can stomach the black bars and occasional frame drops you won't regret it. If it were possible I would rate the game as a tentative recommendation, but given the option of only yes or no I believe that in its current state it still leans more toward yes.

Hades has immediately drawn me in with great world and character building, the combat is fluid and fresh, and for a rogue-lite diehard it brings a new experience definitely worth playing!

Overall amazing game, scratches the Borderlands itch in an MMO setting!
