Great game, pleasant balance between survival, exploration, crafting and danger.

The world is beautiful, nicely handcrafted, with many different zones, and the progression is rewarding.
Also, no crash at all for me in 90 hours :), super stable, nice work from the developers.

My advice: be patient, do not spoil the adventure by trying to look for videos or forums, just go for it without knowing anything, and explore and listen to the hints that will come along.
The surprises and adventure construction are well worth it.

Happy swimming and enjoy!

PS: Here is just one free small tip maybe, because it costs me quite some time at the beginning, look at it only if you feel the start is too slow for you: When seeing the many small white boxes scattered around on the sea floor, do not forget to check their back, many are open and contains useful stuff. I swum a lot just bare hands because I missed that for many hours... yup... not so bright, I guess I was looking too much at the nice scenery... 😉

Graphics are polished and nice, movements and controls are slick, but visual feedback is way too overwhelming (for me).
No way to clearly grasp what's going on, or to do some map control or so, so I end up clicking as a blind loony jumping around with no possibility to use my brain. Aggravated by the maps general configuration, which are basically big open spaces with a few obstacles. Open boxes. Lame.
Opponents are either stuck to the environment or moving slowly towards you, again, no intellectual challenge there, just hordes of dumb entities.
As an old Quake nurtured player, maybe I'm getting too ancient, or maybe that's the purpose of those "Bullet Hell games", but it's not for me (note: refund asked just before the 2 hours limit).

Fantastic game!

Sure I had to work a little to have it run OK (fov fix with Flawless Widescreen, PhysX manual de-install/re-install, run as admin), and stop and re-start at least every hour to avoid framerate/sound issues.

But then, I can enjoy good old beefy shooting action.
The 2 weapons limitation (sometimes you can temporarily pick a third big one) is a minor annoyance, but the gameplay is balanced around that, so that's ok here. Checkpoint system is acceptable too, because there are enough of those.

Art and atmosphere are superb, sounds and music on par.

The "gore" on shooting and enemy dying is excellent, very fun when combined with time mechanics. Too bad we don't get that in the majority of modern "non offensive/politically correct" FPS. Ripping limbs or heads apart and watching enemy agonizing in pain holding their severed limbs is fun. That's the way FPS should be.
One caveat for psycho: once killed, you won't be able to inflict any more body destruction (trust me, I tried). I guess nobody's perfect. ;-)

In conclusion, a very enjoyable kind of old school FPS, a little rough on the edge, but without the usual gore censorship s**t we get now.

PS: Apparently development conditions were pretty tough to finalize the game, more details here: https://youtu.be/WNfl-97j5vI?t=843
Watch after playing to avoid any spoiler. So kudos to Raven to manage that.

Early Access Review
I'm a Q3 lover, and started online deathmatches on Q2 with a 33.6 modem (those Q2 players destroyed me :).

So for me QC private beta was bad, bad feeling, bad balance, bad netcode, BAD.

I just got a new free steam key a few hours, tried the tuto, just because it's there.
You can't read the text in tuto, most of them vanish fast.
Bug report: windows usual copy/paste and CTRL arrow navigation don't work.
And no way to track back your bug requests submissions...

If it looks like ♥♥♥♥, smells like ♥♥♥♥, and feels like ♥♥♥♥, you don't have to actually eat it to know it's ♥♥♥♥.

So I'll wait for those basic interface fixes before looking back into this.
Too bad they are more concerned by "boxes" and "real money" than obvious basic UI guidelines.

Meanwhile, I'll go back to the plain old Q3, or the old UT, or the new Reflex :), or the new under-dev UT for my brutal FPS needs.

So sad for the Quake license... :(

Being a bad guy and robbing banks! That's indeed just about the right time to do so!! :E)

It's a great game. I enjoy it a LOT.
Six very different maps, well build, with an interresting progression.
Engine is efficient and pleasant, shooting feeling is good, balance and incentive to mutual cooperation are excellent too.

Atmosphere is absolutly marvellous, helped by a very adequate soudtrack.
Repleayability is also excellent.
And... the game is hard!!! Which is pretty rewarding.
No panic, it can be easy too if you want it to.

Just one point, don't buy it for solo. Do a little solo at first, then go online, it's there that you'll enjoy it (bots do fairly good support, but that's it). Don't worry about population, so far players are here, and anyway just you and one friend is enough to have fun, just in case.

If you ever wanted to rob bank, and shoot notation agencies, go for it, buy this one! ;-D

Graphic style is perfect for this game, great atmosphere, excellent music track.
Story mode is a nice addition to the game core mechanic, it provides some pleasant depth.
And the asynchronous ability to play multi-games is the guarantee you’ll never be out of opponents. :)
Last word: take the Soundtrack Edition version, it’s totally worth it!

One of the best FPS gameplay: fast, fun, many free mods & maps, incredible high learning curve, frantic action. Pure speed, anticipation and precision here. Use the force for map control. ;-)
That’s a true PC FPS, not a console derivative handicapped targeted ersatz. No weapon or bonus to unlock, no llama health auto-regeneration, it’s just you, the keyboard, the mouse and the opponent(s).

Happy frags!!!

Oh... I almost forget: you won’t find any retarded turtle camper or sniper here. If you don’t move, you’re fragged. Period. :-D

PS: Only negative point (to be honest), it’s hard to find regular servers nowadays, too many excessive like servers imo. Highly recommended anyway.
