Easily the best game of 2025. In a bleak time for the video game industry, Clair Obscur reminds us that there are still developers who care to make a fun game that tells a story.

I waited SO long for Raccoin to release in full, and the wait was well worth it! Unfortunately, roguelikes only really hold my attention for as long as it takes me to unlock every functional upgrade/new character/new stage. And like many roguelikes, I reached that pretty quickly in this game.

If you're someone who enjoys playing Roguelikes at every difficulty on offer with every character on offer, you'll get many more hours out of this game than I did. There are lots of difficulties and lots of variations to try.

Early Access Review
I didn't realize before I picked up this game just how many games I love were inspired by it. My only demerit is that it's 'too early' early access while also feeling like it never should have been EA at all.

What do I mean by that? Well, it appears as though most, if not all, the story beats are already in place (at least far as I can tell with only one successful run under my belt) but a large majority of the story beats are still using placeholder images. I mean that the game appears, at least mechanically, fully finished, but they're now pushing refinements on the gameplay loop. In brief, it feels like this game got MOST of the way finished, but rather than holding it back a few more months to polish and finish the finer details, they've released it RIGHT BEFORE the last step.

In my opinion, this game didn't need early access. It's lost a bit of immersion to those placeholder drawings that look like they were made in MS Paint.

Feels vibecoded from the ground up, but also like an asset flip with the worst aspects of both.

There are genuine complaints to be had about this game, but most of the ones I see right now boil down to "The player couldn't be bothered to think, explore or experiment-- they bought this game expecting low-effort friendslop and didn't bother to engage with anything that wasn't laid out in plain view."

Many reviews call this game a 'low effort' Lethal Company/REPO. I have no idea where they're getting that idea from. The trailer alone puts more creativity and effort on display than I've seen in most other games in the genre.

There's a lot to do in this game. It's not super visually-distinct, with most levels looking pretty much the same as one another, but if you can get over that, there's a lot of fun (and terror) to be had.

The game is mega dated, but you knew that already. What you need to hear is that the game has no idea how to handle a PS5 controller. If you try to change keybinds using one (which you'll want to, because the Axises for the right stick make no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense, and the face buttons have all been rotated one step counter-clockwise.), it softlocks your game, and even switching to M&K does nothing.

Disclaimer: I am BRAND NEW to this series. Apologies if there's anything I missed out on.

If the beat-em-up story mode was all there was to this game, I'd say it's pretty lackluster.

However, the RPG-esque progression elements, the fact that nearly any enemy is also a playable character, and the well-fleshed-out PVP elevate this game far above others in the genre. Its one of the few Beat-em-ups that doesn't need brand recognition or pedigree to draw me in, and that's special.

In short, some of the most fun I've ever had on a stream. Thank you Rocket Panda.

This was the first Five Night's at Freddy's game where I couldn't find anything to like. Never mind the first one I've refunded.

An hour (read: about a third of the way through the game), and the game failed to set an atmosphere, ironically, because it's trying too hard to be creepy. It just didn't suck me in the way Security breach did, and I already knew I wouldn't care about the story, because I am so totally over the whole Mimic storyline.

Honestly, I'm over all of the stupid sci-fi nonsense going on in modern FNAF. I just want to go back to some haunted animatronics without the techno-wizardry ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

This is probably the last FNAF game I'm going to play. The story jumped the shark a long time ago, and I just can't feign interest anymore.

Early Access Review
6/28/25 Poker Update: It didn't even take one day to find a cheater in the ranked poker mode. So much for the new 'anticheat measures'.

This review used to have nuance and situations where I would have recommended this game, but the devs just can't seem to get it together. They have made it clear that they either don't want to or aren't competent enough to do anything about the rampant cheating in their game. Don't support Curve Animation. Try Buckshot Roulette instead, or better yet, invite some friends over and play some real card games.

One of the most fun indie games I've played in a while! Mad challenging, mad fun!

Would love to chat with the devs on stream sometime, if they're keen to. ^_^
