I hope you better have muscle memory of pressing quicksave all the time, because the game surely does not autosave even though there is such an option. I cleared a whole dungeon, and died after leaving the dungeon and the whole progress was gone. A whole dungeon! Not a single checkpoint.
Isn't it fun playing 50 minutes of the same content again?

It's mid at best. Probably better to wait for the Skyrim mod.
They could have made so many quality of life improvements, but no, it's just improved graphics. And even those aren't as good and sometimes bugged.

I wish one could give a neutral review since I feel like neither giving thumbs up or down. To me it seems like the developers focused to much on graphic and visual appleal. Playing the story is very cinematic but compared to the PS2 games it took a step backwards gameplay wise. I think in the future I will more likely play the PS2 games again, then this. Playing the story is still fun, the weapons and controls feel good. But it feels like it's over to soon.

Almost a perfect game. There are a few weak points, like the scope of the story just became to big for my taste. There was one annoying sidestory and some moments, were the character just were bullying someone for "comedy".
Other than that:
The soundtrack slaps, the animations are gorgeous. I don't care much for stories in games but I liked this one. The characters are likeable, the battles are neither to hard nor to easy... it's good.

It also has waifus.

TLDR: Starbound is better.

It's a shame that steam only allows thumbs up and thumbs down. Because I don't believe this game deserves either. There are quite some good and bad points for it:

The good points:
The graphics are good, the VR works great, it's pretty immersive, there are many things one can do, the flying works good, there are things to collect.

The Bad points:
Everything is so generic. After just a short time of playing you have already seen everything. So if you are in for like exploring, I wouldn't recommend it.
The building system is bad. You can build bases on planets, but only in a limited radius, which is just annoying. There is an exploit to triple that radius, but why limit it in the first place? Even without that, the building is annoying. Often you can't build what you want, because the game just doesn't offer you to place an object? It's incredible, how long it look for me to just build stairs inside of a building, becausthe the game continued to offer to place the stairs everywhere but where I wanted them.
The game has multiple races but those have no different cultures or anything like that, as you would expect. In Starbound every race would have different buildings, weapons, dungeons... in No Man's Sky everything is generic and the same.
Like the Space Stations. From the outside they look different, in the inside they all look the same, doesn't matter what race owns it, what their economy is or anything. There is only one other kind of spacestation, the outlaw ones, but all of them also look the same. And the NPCs just... do nothing. They just stand around doing nothing all the time. Even the NPCs in Pokémon Legends Arceus had more going on.

It's not nearly as terrible as it was at its release but I would say it's definetly not worth 60 Euros/Dollars.

This game has two different playmodes: The tower and the courtyard, which leads into the fortress.

The Tower seems to be more of a "look what VR can do" kinda thing, and after just a short while you'll have done pretty much everything there is. The Tower also has a level that you can enter and fight in, but it honestly isn't that good.

The courtyard is definetly the selling point of this game. Here you can use natural magic, which is pretty fun to use. You can use different spells, based on your movement. It's pretty intuitive and way better than "press this button to select your spell and than this button to use". And in the fortress you can use these spells to fight.

In the fortress you can use the magic to fight. There are also grenades you can find in there, and it's pretty fun.
The only problem here is the difficulty curve. At the beginning it't still pretty easy and it doesn't get harder that fast, which makes sense, since the game wants to teach you the different spells first. But after the games has shown you them all, it takes way to long to get more challenging. There are 40 levels in the fortress, and so many feel the same, just copy-pasted.
It feels like, they really wanted to have 40 levels, because they made a 40 pieces puzzle to complete (you get a puzzle piece at the end of every level), but just didn't know what to do with so many. Just 20 levels would have been enough.

The story is boring and doesn't even have a proper ending, the characters are bland at best, annoying at worst. It basicly just artwork with some bad written dialog in between.
