I haven't finished this game yet, but having finished the first two islands I think I can make a fairly good assessment of the game.

Sonic Frontiers is just fantastic (though not perfect, i'll discuss my issues with it don't worry :3 ). There is so much to praise this game for.

Firstly, it should obviously be expected that the soundtrack is just phenomenal as is standard with Sonic; the cyberspace stages themes are just perfect, imo the best of those is the song for 1-2, on top of this the themes for the Titan boss fights are incredible, even by Sonic standards, and they go so unfathomably hard. There really isn't any criticism I can give in regards to the OST

Secondly, with regards to the open world, Frontiers is the first Sonic game to attempt any sort of open world style; I have to criticise the game here, the worlds are unfortunately relatively empty, though the puzzles and mini-bosses that do exist are fun in and of themselves, it's definitely not a horrible open world, though they could absolutely develop better if they decide to try an open world game again. Another flaw of the open worlds is the absolutely horrendous pop-in issue, Sonic Team desperately needs to fix this ASAP, it's easily the single biggest flaw with the game, and the only thing that at any point has notably inhibited my enjoyment.

Thirdly with gameplay, Frontiers has a new combat system, it's a big upgrade from the standard Sonic combat of just homing attack, boost through enemies, and jump on them; the introduction of combos is really good, and the skill-tree unlocks some cool new attacks, though in the end the combat can still end up feeling a little bit too much like I'm just spamming X over and over, if nothing else at least there's now some more visual flair to it in that case. The cyberspace levels don't make any use of this new combat system, and I'll admit, the gameplay in those stages is imo a fairly big step down from Sonic Generations (which I would say easily has the best movement of any 3D Sonic game), it's sad to see that drifting is gone, and at many points in the cyberspace stages I did feel as if they've made Sonic perhaps a little bit too slow.

Overall, Sonic Frontiers is incredibly enjoyable and fun, it introduces some new concept to the franchise that it's never experimented with before, it executes some better than others, but overall none of them are giant flops, though some could use some more polish and development.

Fun the first few times, but I must admit it gets repetitive pretty fast, maybe it's my fault but no matter what kind of ideology I have in mind, I always find myself returning to what I always do (Economic far-left, social centre-right)

Pros:
+ Looks good

Cons:
- 2 factions
- 5 maps
- crap effects and destruction
- feels like a mobile remake

Conclusion: you are better off playing the Cold War mods for the original Men of War 2
