The awkward controls plus the unsatisfying puzzles make this one not work playing despite its charm.

I enjoyed the weirdness of this game and it was easy to stay engaged with the different gameplay styles (running around, fighting enemies, sidequests and cutscenes). None if it was that hard either.
The major issue is this game crashed so consistantly it doesn't feel worth recommending on this platform. Also, this is totally a me problem that I think I could fix, but playing with the Switch Pro Controller the camera controls are rotated 90 degrees, i.e. "looking left" actually looks up, "looking up" actually looks right, etc.

This game nailed being a tribute to survival horror while also having its own identity. While on the shorter side I think the quality 5ish hours I spent on the main story was worth it and hunting down achievements has been a great time.

Early Access Review
This very quickly became a favourite rogue like of mine. This does have the limitation of luck as to weather you make it to the second boss or not, but the game throws enough choice and randomness to make great runs feel powerful and bad runs feel like miscalculations.

It took a few tries to get in to this game. I'm pretty hit or miss with roguelikes and this is one of the few that rides the line of the middle lane. It has that roguelike issue where the best course of action is to just rush each dungeon, get the good upgrades from the next one, rinse and repeat. The shopkeeping took a lot of learning to get used to and while i never really loved it, I got it enough to get the most out of the shop side.

A fun little experience. Looking at the game you know what you are getting. not particularly challenging but relaxing for sure.

So this game does have more issues than I am used to but overall I'm glad I played it. I had semi-frequent issues of people I couldn't talk to, the world disappearing and the game having some egregious stuttering. Looking past that, I enjoyed exploring this world, the secrets and lore were worth the time spent looking for them. While technically lacking I was very absorbed in the world and would recommend a go.

Its a pretty basic emulation of the GBA games, but its reasonably priced. Looking forward to a hopefully better adapted DS collection

I played 999 on the DS a while back and liked it so i got this collection for VLR. While I remember liking 999 VLR was really tedious to get through. The story had cool twists and interesting puzzles like 999 but the writing killed this game for me. The conversations were super monotonous and they were often repeated so i spent a lot of the time just holding down rapid click to get to the interesting parts or clicking auto play and doing something else. There was enough intrigue to keep me going but overall I wasn't a huge fan.
