The best singleplayer experience i've had, hands down.

One of the most immersive multiplayer experiences i've had, though isn't for everyone, and is full of hackers.

Play it. Now.

ATTENTION: PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT AT THE TIME OF WRITING THIS I ONLY HAVE LESS THAN 3 HOURS ON THE GAME. TREAT THIS AS A "FIRST IMPRESSIONS" TYPE OF REVIEW, FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS PLAYED THE OLD GAME QUITE A BIT.

TL;DR AT THE BOTTOM

The game is great, let me start with that. It IS worth it to go to the new game BY FAR! The game feels, looks and sounds so much better.

Though, there is some downsides, and I want to address my major problems with the game before anything else so that people can understand that this game is not perfect, though: THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT I HATE THE GAME, DESPITE THE PROBLEMS, I LOVE IT!

In the current state of this game, there is a lot of glitches and technical issues.

The game is extremely hard to run if you do not have a decent CPU, though, the recommended speclist can help you understand that. I wish it wasn't this way, but even at the lowest settings on this game, I only can get about ~40fps with a AMD FX-4300. I can understand that updated visuals can be hard, but I went from over 60fps with my current computer on what was high settings, to the absolute MINIMUM settings at 40 fps or lower. Why is this? I don't feel like that is a proper progression, and they probably lost a lot of their playerbase. Any optimization would be EXTRAORDINARY!

Some glitches I have experienced are as follows:

1. People no longer able to hear me whatsoever, despite my audio settings being fine, and my mic working on other software and programs. A restart fixed this issue, as well.

2. On first launch, a lot of visual issues concerning the main menu, with many parts of the character customization not loading in until a restart, leaving my character without a head and other body parts (while on the main menu, specifically.)

3. After a while of playing, in-game I am continually experiencing a problem in which my primary weapon will not load visually while in the loadout menu, similar to #2. The problem is, that it doesn't load until I spawn, then die, then come back, and even then, it sometimes happens again.

Now onto the GOOD things about the game.

1. The gunplay is fantastic.

The gunplay is very similar to the original, though it seems more refined and well-put-together. Sniping is more fun than it used to be, with the combined sound of firing, moving, and other personal sounds such as yelling and hearing other players. The "hearing other players" part is very good as well, with the sounds of enemies much more pronounced and easy to hear than before, you can easily hear what is coming behind you, though it is up to you what happens next.

The gunplay is still as hard and simple as it used to be. You shoot someone, they fall. It seems to me, though it might not be true by the numbers, that there is even more damage in comparison to the other game. Walls can be easily shot through now, and you can be easily hit by that if you are not careful with your footsteps. There are other ways for people to easily hear you, with the sound of moving through grass and on hard floors much louder than other types of ground. When you hear a crunch, you look for grass and shoot. Combined with all of this, is the new maps.

2. The mapping is amazing.

The new maps for this game are extremely good, especially so on Push. Every section is like no other. ON THE SAME MAP, you may be sniping across a long road surrounded by rails and windows that could hold an enemy seeking you, and then five minutes later, you will be clearing rooms on the objective, a three story building, and get sniped by someone that took up the position you had formerly, and they get killed soon after. On the next map, you can hold a point on Charlie that only can overlook a certain section on Bravo, but can see the entire North side of Alpha. What you can see of Alpha though, is blocked mostly by walls that are not as present on the other end, which has less coverage by yourself. As an infantryman, you may be clearing a building and around the corner comes a flashbang. You turn and run, taking cover behind an exploded car, and (once the flashbang has exploded) you look up to find an enemy infantryman standing before you, and is soon shot.

The point I am trying to make here is that the time and effort that are put into these maps seem to be much more than the game's predecessor. They are each built with variety of gameplay in mind, as well as being competitively viable and fun. Every moment you play on this game, even if you have it on the lowest settings like I, is truly fun.

3. Customization GALORE!

The game has as LOT more options for customizing your weapons than before, not to mention that you can now customize your CHARACTER as well as your weapons in-game.

The weapon customization is very good, with more attachment and weapon variety than the original Insurgency, including many sights that could only be copied with a mod before this. Along with this, you'll find that the point system is much more balanced on official servers, giving you more ability to have fun and attach what you wish. Though, in the competitive mode, you will find that points are scarce, and must be used wisely. This is almost foreshadowed in the quick-play modes where you usually have a lot of points, but the points you have leave you still budgeting for your best loadout, for what I can only assume is a good warmup for newer players.

The character customization is a bit small at this time, though I am confident they will add more options in the future. It has customization similar to Ghost Recon: Wildlands, though a bit more limited. You can add some tattoos to the arms, and change the type of shirt or camoflauge you have, but more is left to be desired on the non-insurgency team. Though, on the Insurgency team, you have quite a few options to show your jihadist pride (joke.)

___________________________

Overall, this game is an extreme improvement on the Insurgency format, though it does need a lot of technical issues fixed, especially optimization for players who just want to make the game not look like utter trash!

TL;DR,

The game is extremely fun, but has some minor bug issues to work out, and some MAJOR graphical hardships, meaning that if you don't have a good CPU, you'll have to run this game on extremely lower settings.
