Puzzle game of the year! :D

Cool to finally delve deep into a new EBF entry with tons of stuff to find, admire and listen to.
The level of detail in the levels is insane.

Who would've thought that becoming a fan of the webcomic Prequel Adventure would, years later, lead oneself to being hyped for a game with wolves and vixens fighting over junk?

Stellar game. Charming, funny, and with a balanced difficulty curve.

The game gets better the longer you play it and you reach new stuff. The last third (with less action) felt like Undertale, if it had tons of fan-service.

Hell yeah. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I've always been a sucker for puzzle games and comedy, and this one succeeds at both.
I've not played Papers, Please before, but I surmise that this is like a BE version of that, lol.

Probably the first time I've anticipated a PC game for 4 1/2 years straight.
It's good! 👌

realRiven: Starry Expanse
I played realMYST: Masterpiece Edition in 2015, and that was my introduction to the series. (Thank you, brutalmoose!)
Not long after that, I played and loved the rest of the series after they came to steam (back in 2018-ish) using plenty of hints along the way - a habit from trying to solve the first Myst.
Then, barely a year ago I marathoned through the entire pentalogy using no hints, just pen and paper as well as a familiarity with what I'm supposed to find and when to find it. And that was great! Definitively enjoyed them all more the second time around.
So tl;dr, I consider myself a pretty big Myst fan!

And as all Myst fans knew of course, there was a fan-effort to build a realtime 3D version of 'The Sequel to Myst'. Eventually, that fan-effort transformed into an official remake announcement, and I've been even more hyped for realRiven ever since 2022. With how good Myst (2021) turned out, I knew that Cyan could tweak and improve upon the foundations of the 1997 masterpiece, with modern graphical fidelity, lore updates and so on. But best of all; let Riven be played and solved in that oh-so liberating real-time 3D and free mouse look!

So after playing it, I think this remake turned out amazing! I had a fantastic time playing through it all-- pen and paper in hand, as well as its new built-in screenshot/journal function --where every update and change was a welcome surprise and a remix of the original. Though it's not exactly "improving upon perfection", I'm glad Riven (2024) forged its own identity which now usurps the old Riven journey for me with the expanded areas added. The "changed" spoken Atrus parts, "changed" spoken Catherine parts, and the lore tweaks/new insights were all a step above the 1997 version. Huge props, speaking as a Myst lore geek. Seeing more of Tay and 233, too? It's more than I could've dreamed of! :D
Those remixed elements in this new version therefore cause this (more well-balanced difficulty-wise) replacement to the original to not be a replacement for it - which I'd say every remake and re-release of Myst has attempted to be.

But yeah, this game hits it out of the park in the ways that matter; audio, graphics, unreal engine faces, impact, immersion, discovery, and a Tolkien-level of worldbuidling.
Even with the solutions to the original fresh in my mind, I managed to get lost at least once when looking for an important (but skippable) marker, and I'm split on whether I should be thrilled at the game letting me got lost before arriving at the solution myself, or disgruntled at how that particular part, finding a new hidden part of Prison Island for the third piece of a Jungle Island 6-part combination lock, was intended to be solved.

I can only hope that realEXILE is next - my favorite of the entire series.
