If you like a platforming game, you'll like Peak. If you like a game that's good background for talking with friends, you'll like Peak. Peak isn't a horribly complex game, but it's a fun one. It's simple enough that you can grab a friend or two and drag them in without them having to learn much. Hell, it's funnier if you don't because they'll inevitably end up dying in some ridiculous way. But it's a game you can pick up and go, and have some fun with.

And if you like to play solo games? Peak is also great. A decent chunk of my hours are from solo play, especially for achievement hunting. The achievements for this game are hard enough but rewarding, and Peak still feels interesting enough to climb even if you don't have friends. It's frankly just a great time killer of a game.

Really good game!! It's free, it's short, why not play it? It's really rather charming. Also for everyone saying achievements won't unlock—I found that uninstalling and reinstalling the game worked a treat, and they all unlocked right after.

I'm so happy this came out on PC so I can stop draining all my battery life on my phone! This is really helpful for getting me to actually work on my schoolwork and stay on task, and I love getting to customize my room and avatar. The customization is a little limited, but you can get creative with it and end up with something you'd likely be satisfied with. I'd love if they added in a feature for people to join you in your room though, or perhaps more items in game.

It takes a lot for me to set aside time to write a game review. Either a game has to be incredibly good, or it has to do something so irksome that I have to let others know. This is unfortunately the latter.

TLDR: Just buy Stardew Valley instead. Seriously. I've got 300+ hours and I'll keep playing it. Take my word on it.

Sun Haven is a farming simulator, no shocker there. You grow crops, you talk to people in the town, you explore. It's all very similar to Stardew Valley and your standard farming sim. The difference with Sun Haven is the diversity and the wealth of many, many more options of things to customize. You can be a part of many different races, there's race specific dialogue. There's mounts, pets, more skill trees.

The issue is the fact that in doing all this, the development team has no idea what's actually important for the game. A lot of the reviews complain about controller issues. It SEEMS they have finally fixed this in the latest update, as I was just playing on my Steam Deck and it worked alright. This took over a year to do from release. By the time controller support was added, they've released 21 cosmetic DLCs.

By the way, those cosmetic DLCs are now constantly accessible from your farm through your shipping portal. Every time you go to sell something, you will be reminded of them. Each one is $5. Buying them in a pack as a bundle is $180 when not on sale. I'll admit I'm a stick in the mud when it comes to DLCs. I like when I buy a game and I actually own everything I paid for, you know? But I understand wanting to buy something extra to throw some money at the developers as appreciation, hell I've even done it before.

Except this isn't a company it seems you should be giving your money. Look on Glassdoor- some person reports being fired after just 2 days and not compensated for their time. Another review has mentioned over 200 employees coming and going over the time of development. I can't vouch for the validity, but if it's even a fraction of that? Yikes.

There's a couple other nitpicks. One, how short the game feels (by Fall of year 1 I was running out of things I wanted to do). The characters in the towns are underdeveloped, even some romance interests (they're not the point, but I would appreciate at least a little fleshing out of the characters. Sorry Wornhardt). Many of the dialogue options feel rather silly, which sometimes makes it hard to actually immerse yourself in the world instead of treating it like a joke. There's also a couple parts that feel odd in the story.

VERY light spoilers: You can play as a demon in this game. People don't treat you nicely about this, there's a bit of fantasy racism. When you get to the city meant for demons, made because they were being pushed out of everywhere else, they don't welcome you. You can't join their side, you can't sympathize with them. You have to actively work against them.

EDIT (7/26): If you haven't already seen, the company making this game currently has a lawsuit about their labor practices and employee abuse. There's also a video published by CozyGate about it. Please do not give this company any further money. Play another game instead.

Early Access Review
YES this game came out today, YES I have not beaten it, and YES I am writing a review. Despite being early access, this game is unbelievably smooth and a delight to play. The enemies are varied and difficult in their own ways, the places you travel to are fresh and lovely to look at. There's a few assets that haven't been drawn yet, but there's placeholder art that fits pretty cleanly into the game for now and it doesn't seem out of place.

But the shining star of this game so far is the boss battles. I came to write this review because the boss battles just don't miss. They keep getting better. Each one is more interesting and more challenging than the last. By the third one, which I just barely lost to, my heart was pounding out of my chest and I genuinely had to catch my breath. I'm writing this review so I don't instantly dive into another run, because it was such an intense battle that I need a minute.

Please play it. If you wish you could play the first game all over again, this is the closest you can ever get to that.

Also as a side note, if you're playing on Steam Deck, this plays BEAUTIFULLY. I'm playing it on mine. The game is small if you don't have a lot of space and I haven't encountered any lag. The movement is clean and a delight to play. It's completely compatible, so don't sweat about it.

This is absolutely a game made with love. Very relaxing soundtrack, pretty art, and a fun story. It doesn't take itself too seriously and I've enjoyed playing through the game thrice already. I'll probably play it a fourth time too and I'm considering the DLC. You've genuinely got nothing to lose by playing it.

Genuinely fun level design mixed with characters that feel like they have personality to them. You can love and hate both protagonists and antagonists with good reason. Also happened to cry over it towards the end. Worth the time to play it for sure.

This is one of the only games I will go through the pain of achievement hunting for. It's that good. If you're on the fence about playing it, get it. It's got a solid story, it'll ♥♥♥♥ you up emotionally in the best of ways, and it's an experience well worth the money.

I love this game. I love it. I love it because even as it punches me in the gut over and over, you better bet I'm still playing and excited about the rest of it. The trial scene was a pain in the ass, but when I actually got it moving it was SO much fun. It's easier with the hint button, and I'm so endlessly thankful that it's included. It even shows you what evidence to present and where. SUPER helpful. I plan on playing this again and again and hunting for the rest of the achievements like I did with act 1.

Also, I didn't have any visual bugs with my game? I've seen a few poor reviews talking about buggy cutscenes and such, but everything ran perfectly fine on my laptop.
