Only a couple hours played, and if it keeps this level of fun and quality until the end, it's the best thing I've played in years.

Edit after 100% completing the game. 10/10, Hollow Knight was my favorite game of all time, now Silksong has dethroned it. Literally zero complaints about it, the music is fantastic, the art beautiful, the bosses fun and challenging, the map huge, the story extremely interesting.

I would say though, now that I'm done with it, I'd play the first game before if you haven't, both to get used to how Team Cherry designs stuff and hides secrets, but also to get context for some late game stuff which I wouldn't dare to spoil.

It's one of those games where I'm torn between recommending it or not. It's not great, but it's almost decent enough.

On the plus side, all characters are unlocked from the start, they promised you won't have a time limit to keep unlocking battle pass items after buying the premium battle pass, and the characters are all fun and unique.

On the negative side... it's not really doing anything unique, it has the same problem most hero shooters have of having so much going on on screen that it's hard to know what's happening, the maps are pretty boring and the announcer's voice is annoying.

In short, 10 times better than Overwatch 2, but not worth taking 40gb of my disk space, and Deadlock is better.

Outstanding OST, Outstanding pixel art, great dialogue, relaxing gameplay, and more. A must play for any Touhou fan.

It's alright, but it offers nothing different than similar games and none of the characters really stands out, both in design and abilities.

Not as good as Salt and Sanctuary and very different in a lot of ways, but still a great game, specially after the new update added fast travel to several checkpoints.

Combat is fun, and I much prefer the timed block mechanic of this game compared to actively having to parry in the first one. The only complaint I have is that several enemies can knock you back WAY too far, so... don't get hit when there's a chance to fall.

Hunting mages, the main gameplay loop of this game, can get a bit repetitive at times when you farm for materials for a specific item, but you can just do some of the multiplayer stuff for a change of pace.

Multiplayer can get really chaotic with multiple invaders joining your world, then hunters arriving to help you kill invaders, meanwhile chaos hunger invaders spread chaos and join whichever side is winning. Not to mention that unlike the first game there's online co-op.

Also, when you stagger a Mage you can use your grappling hook to hit it in the face and that's just cool.

This game being good truly is the choice of Steins Gate. El. Psy. Kongroo.

But seriously, I'm only a few hours in and so far it's great. The load/save is probably my favorite game mechanic in any VN, the voice acting is great in both languages, and the story is extremely engaging so far.

Edit: Finished it now. I'd say it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ masterpiece, second only to Steins;Gate in the world of visual novels. If you're a fan of the science adventure series, you can't miss this. If you're not, start with Steins;Gate or Chaos;Head and leave this one for last, you won't regret it.
