Fantastic experience. Outer Wilds is a space exploration/mystery game in a groundhog day setting where every 20 minutes or so the sun explodes and you set out from square one to explore the solar system and learn how it changes in those 20 minutes as you try to uncover the truth about an alien race that preceded yours and of the universe itself. Without any combat or challenging platforming, the game is quite peaceful and seemingly boring, however the uncovering of truth is motivating and self driving enough that it's difficult to put this game down once you've started. The progression is also entirely driven on the players knowledge, so theoretically it's possible to beat the game in 20 minutes, but it's up to the player to venture and progress at their own pace in whatever direction they want. In short, Outer Wilds is a peaceful exploration game that can be quite exciting at times, and not because the game holds your hand and tries to make you excited, but because you've earned it.

Although eerie it's not a horror game. Although inquisitive it's not a mystery game. It's a very solemn game with many interesting surprises, and although it's a bit sentimental you'll be captivated by the story of the finch family as it unfolds through various viewpoints. You're simultaneously being told the story as well as living it while playing this game. It's really great. Just play it.
