It's really short. I beat it in like 9 hours, but its a solid indie game. It was clearly made with a lot of care and love by the devs, and its a nice fun way to kill 9 to 10 hours. Easily worth the price.

One of the best games I've ever played. It has a great story, great gunplay, an amazing map to explore, lots to do, very fun combat.

It's one of the few games I've invested time into ng+, usually once I beat a game, unless it's something special I don't beat it again. Solid buy, definetly get it if you're looking for a fun game to sink some considerable time onto.

I wanna start off by saying, I love this game. I truly enjoy playing this game, problems and all. I have 456 hours at the time of writing this, and will likely wrack up hundreds more hours in the years to come...

I really wish I could recommend this game. There are so many good things about this game to give it a recommendation. I want to see the game succeed, I want to see the community thrive, but given the state of things at the moment, I simply cannot in good consciousness recommend buying this game. If you already have this game in your inventory and you've been ignoring it, by all means you should play it. But I cannot tell people "You should buy it"

The main reason I can't do that is the company behind the game. It is a GREAT game, but an awful company. I'm not gonna go into everything wrong with behavior here, but there is a lot of controversy behind how they treat their community, and their own game. I encourage you to google it and see for yourself, instead of me yapping about it here. There's a lot to talk about and I'm not trying to write a book here.

I really truly hope, all of the stuff that's happened, especially recently, is a turning point for Behavior to get their act together and finally turn things around. I'll be honest though, It ain't looking good. However, if they actually do change and grow from this, I'll delete this review and give the game a glowing recommendation, because I don't want to see this game fail, but I don't want people to buy into a game with the many red flags this particular company behind the game has. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

*Edit* It's gotten even worse with the latest update. It's clear that not only does the company behind DBD simply not care about the needs and wants of the players that actively keep the game alive and give them money, it's almost like they are intentionally trying to sabotage their own game now.

Please do not give these people money. At this point even people like me with almost 460 hours of sunk cost fallacy are abandoning ship. It's not worth the money, even on sale.

The gameplay is awesome. It's a really good sci-fi job sim. Honestly I only have one gripe with it, and that's that the cutscenes are VERY long and unskippable. If you're playing the game for the first time, this really isn't an issue, you'll likely want to see the cutscenes anyway. If you're like me though, and you've played the sh*t out of the game, and are doing perma death mode, then it's absolutely infuriating. I'm so sick of hearing the cutscenes that I just mute the game and go do something else while they're playing. It's kinda ridiculous that you can't skip them. Outside of that though it's a great game.

TLDR - I recommend this game, but only when it's on sale. 60 bucks is too much.

This game is a very good time sink. It's pacing is very slow, but the environment around you is beautiful, and the lore is engaging.

Pros -
- The graphics are beautiful
- The space combat, and ground combat is very fun (when it works)
- The building system is very fun, there's a lot you can do with it. If you like base building, you'll like this game.
- There's a lot of stuff to do to keep you busy.
- The cooking system is very fun for me.

Cons -
- The game is extremely grindy. Everything takes a lot of time to get, and many quests require you to wait hours, sometimes even days to complete. Some resources, namely the ones that allow you to unlock buildings and recipes, take a while to farm, and you need to farm a lot of them to unlock everything. The grind is definitely needlessly long, and feels like it's done to pad out the game play time
- The space combat and ground combat can be very janky. In space, especially with larger battles, it's very hard to keep track of what's happening around you unless you switch to third person in your ship, which due to the odd choice of controls, takes a while to do. The ground combat can suffer from enemies spawning directly on top of you, and from some FOV issues like falling into random caves on the battlefield while in an intense situation, or accidentally talking to an npc instead of firing your weapon.
- The procedural style of generation, can after a while, be very repetitive. The space stations interiors all still look the same too, which kinds makes exploration a bit boring. Quests can also feel very boring and dragged out for this same reason. A lot of the over-world locations are all the same kind of building or freighter.
- This game has a very checkered past. It used to be called "No Man's Lie" for a good reason. You can look it up if you want the full story. They fixed a lot of the issues they had at launch, and the game is considerably better than what was released, but the problems it had at the beginning of it's launch, sour the game for me, and probably a lot of other people who where aware of the drama.

Personally, I would recommend this game, but under the big caveat that you buy it when it's on sale. It's not worth the $60 price tag, but when it goes on sale for $30, or even $20, and this is steam, it will eventually go on sale, then I very much recommend picking it up. Despite the many frustrations I've had with this game, I've had a lot of fun playing it. It's definitely a good experience, provided you get it for the right price.

Fun. Cheap. Full of workshop content. Reliable.

The only real con I can say is that if you don't got a decent computer it might cause some negligible lag. But at its usual price, its still worth trying out.

Definitely recommend it.

I mean, I have over a thousand hours in this game. I have bought every single dlc available for this game. I think that alone speaks for itself.

The game itself is great. Keen is a great company, one of the few good honest gaming devs out there left; but what really makes this game amazing is the modding community.

You can spend hundreds of hours on the game as is, vanilla, but once you get into the modding community, be prepared to see that number jump to a thousand.

Do you like deadspace? Have you ever wanted to FLY the Ishamura? You can in this game, thanks to the amazing modding community. How about the millenium falcon? They have a full to scale version of it, fully explorable, and flyable. We have an entire scale model of the solar system with every planet and asteroid placed and explorable, I mean, I could go on for hours about all the content the modding community has, and it's not showing any signs of stopping.

The only reason I can say to not buy this game is if you have a social life, because this game is gonna suck up hours upon hours of your free time, but if you're a nerd like me, you'll love every minute of it.

I cannot possibly recommend this game enough.

I originally did not recommend this game because the netcode was horrible, and even in its current state, it really needs work, but its still much better than it was. The netcode still needs a lot of polish, but its clear that the devs are working on the issue, and there has been a lot of notable improvement, so I'm changing my recommendation.

I love this game. It is everything a souls game should be and more. I have spent more than a hundred hours in this game and I have STILL yet to find every area and see everything this game has to offer, and they're already talking about a dlc, and you bet your ass I'm getting it as soon as it comes out.

Pros:

Stunning and varied environment. There's really no area in the game that I would say is "boring" it sometimes feels like every square inch of the game was hand-made to be eye candy

If you like the difficulty and challenge of a souls game this game will not disappoint. Even with all my hours in this game, it still surprises me at every turn. The combat is engaging, and the controls are silky smooth (although some people might not agree with that, but it's worked great for me)

Every inch of this game is packed with content, and it will take you many, many hours to 100% even with a guide. There's so many areas, questlines, and npcs, and just when you think that map can't get any bigger, it does.

Cons

This game is not for everyone. The combat is brutal and punishing. This game does not hold you hand, it tells you what you need to play it, and then leaves the rest for you to find out on your own. For people like me, who've played a lot of souls games before, thats a good thing, we expect that, we like to be challenged, but its not a game everyone is going to enjoy. There's nothing wrong with that either, its just a matter of taste and preference

The netcode needs work still. People will randomly disconnect when you summon them, you might be randomly disconnected as a summon or invader for seemingly no reason. It's a lot better than it was before, but it still needs work

The game is constantly being worked on. Things are always being nerfed or buffed and the meta is changing constantly. This is great cause mmmm delicious content, but if you're expecting your build to work and keep working, you might wind up being dissapointed.

In your travels in this game you might encounter some "maidenless" behavior. People leaving messages on top of bonfires to deny you access to them, people who hide in unreachable areas to afk and farm invaders, 3 team gank squads that use exploits to keep you summoned while trapping you, people abusing glitches, and many other bad things. It doesn't happen very often, but it happens often enough where it's a problem that needs addressing. If you're going to use the multiplayer, always proceed with caution

I LOVE This game. I absolutely adore this game. This may very well be my favorite game of all time, and the icing on the cake is that the company that makes this game, still has integrity, and strives to give us a quality product. And they're absolutely delivering.

TLDR - Get the game. You won't regret it, and if the combat isn't your thing, feel free to add me to your friends list. Summon me and I'll carry you through everything.

This game is amazing. Literally the only thing holding it back is that it's free to play and pay to win. If this was a dev passion project, I would be willing to pay $100 for the game.

Literally everything about the game except its monetization plan is peak. The game play is good, the art style is amazing, and do not even get my started on the ost. The only thing holding it back is its status as a free to play game, and the monetization that plagues it for that reason.

I think that's what makes me the most pissed. This game could have very easily been the next dark souls. Even in it's current state with the clunky combat and re-used enemies and bosses, this game could have been the next dark souls if they just put a price tag on it, and not make it pay to win. Those devs clearly put their hearts and souls into this game, and instead of embracing that, they used it to milk us of money.

That is why I cannot recommend this game. However if they actually put a proper price tag on it, and get rid of all the pay to win crap. I will personally go to their hq, and give them my body. This game oozes potential, but if it stays how it is right now, that potential is wasted.

I originally did not recommend the game because in its state at the time it was still unfinished despite an official release, something that I really, REALLY do not like.

However most of the things that I said were not finished have been finished and content continues to be added to the game.

Lets start with the pros:

It's an absolutely beautiful game, with an immense area to explore, and more content then you know what to do with. It's beautiful to look at, it's fun to play, its relatively stable, and new content gets added fairly regularly.

Cons:

It is VERY grindy, and you will spend a lot of time harvesting resources or killing things, just to get exp, even if you don't need any of the stuff you're working to get.

The game can be very unfair, ESPECIALLY if you plan on doing things solo. It's possible to do things solo, but almost needlessly painful to do so, to the point where being in a group is a must.

and when I say unfair, I mean getting spawncamped by the same extremely high level bear, over and over and over again until you delete and re-make a character, and be forced to re-grinds for things.

Many people will probably get frustrated and give up because of this, and it's less a difficulty thing that you can overcome, and more of a hoping you just get lucky kind of thing.

All of that being said I still recommend this game. If you're gonna get it I suggest waiting for it to go on sale and getting an extra copy for a friend, or going on the official discord and joining another group.

I do not recommend playing this alone if you don't know what you're doing.

However if you can tough it out, or find the right group, you're in for a fun experience set in an beautiful environment.
