This sucks

This was painful to return too. Not just because it was a flat out lack luster, but because it has reaffirmed my position that Bethesda Game Studio needs to change with the times or be left behind, which they basically already have been.

The definition of how to do a remake, bringing a classic of an older generation forward to the modern day. Team Bloober have done an incredible job and have proven that with resources and time, they can create a phenomenal experience. 10/10.

The combat, world and exploration is what this game is all about. While it's not perfect with regards to it's questing and story, they only act as a means to push you through the world and explore what Dragons Dogma 2 does so well. Something else that isn't perfect is this games performance. Vernworth, the main city hub is the worst offender for this. Outside of this area, expect pretty solid performance if you have a beefy PC.

You can ignore the micro-transactions completely as well. I never felt I needed to buy them. By the end of the game, I ended up installing a mod from Nexus which allows you to buy as many portcrystals as you want with in-game gold.

Overall, recommend but probably only on sale for most people.

There are so many things that I could say about this game. But I decided to fast travel to the end of this review. This game isn't for everyone and misses some of the big reasons why I love getting lost in Bethesda games worlds.
