Might not live up to the past titles in an exact measure, but is great if not better in different ways. Many of us approached this game with a hint of nostalgia and not much room for improvement over it. Here's my main gripes.

I think they could have introduced power armor a tad better. Increased functionality is awesome, but shoving it down our throats isn't. I have characters I like to play with a heavy aspect that always uses power armor, and some I don't like using power armor at all. Yet there are portions of the game that more or less require it, or require excess effort otherwise.

Clothing. Some of it is goofy in terms of functionality. Some outfits are complete one piece outfits, while others are several part assemblies. That's fine and dandy, until you find a good one piece that you'd like to use as a base for your multi-part outfit, and realize that you simply can't. Limiting, though mods fix that.

Speaking of mods, I can't put my finger on a specific instance, because even as-is the game has such a huge content spectrum, it seems like they left it almost 'unfinished'. And I say this because there are things that mods have been doing for years on Fallout, only to find that in the next game Bethesda hasn't added or improved on the portion of the game in question. If they left it like it is for modders to do later on, my opinion is that they simply shouldn't. It's not modders' responsibility to make the game great. They aren't getting paid for the sales revenue they bring in for you with the cool mods they create for your game, and Bethesda can't stand back and tell us that mods have no effect on their sales for their games when they almost blatantly advertise their games with it.

My last point here is going to be in regards to the storyline. I know some people like the return to a linear storyline, and myself included I can't say I didn't enjoy it. Now you're probably frowning by now, saying that the storyline is nowheres near linear. It is, in the sense that to unlock parts of the world that make the game playable otherwise from the main story(Institute), you must play through the linear campaign until that point.

Also, you've forced a maritial status on the main character. Some of us like to tell a story with their playthrough of Fallout, and that bit is severely limiting. How can your male character sensibly move on when (to him) his wife was just murdered days earlier. Vice-versa for the opposite gender. Don't forget the military background that they force on you, or the power armor knowledge. I think they should have approached it in a more neutral aspect like New Vegas, where they don't go into your character's background much more than his/her previous job, and focus more on what you're presently doing or have done during the game's questlines.

The Elder Scrolls games have consistently followed this path for years, and people complained about this kind of linearity in Fallout 3, which was nowheres near as bad, because atleast your characters emotions were what you chose since his/her birth. Why go back to it?

Anyhow. Those are my criticisms, take them as you will.

I still rate the game 9/10, because it's an awesome game and I highly recommend it.
