We launched our first mission together out over the Gulf running CAP with an E-3 watching our back. Smooth comms, calm voice, never rushed. The picture started getting busy and before I could even ask, he’d already sorted the contacts, called the ranges, and had the intercept geometry worked out. That kid can work a radar like it’s second nature.
First sortie together over Kuwait and I knew right away: if things ever get complicated up there, I want him in the back seat.
