I love this game and I plan to play it a few more times, but there are many gripes that I have that soured the experience enough for me to try to discuss them online. I just hope that Tony and his team are made aware of some of these issues so Anton Blast and Summit's future projects get the recognition they deserve.

I'll try to be concise:

1. Audio Mixing - I constantly found myself adjusting the sound settings because the sound effects and music really fight for your attention, it's hard to hear both at the same time and the default settings do not sound right (on headphones at least).

2. Visual Clarity - This problem is worse in the earlier levels, the resolution and screen space are limited (I think it matches the GBA), and the levels are detailed so often times the general readability of the level layouts are difficult to process given the speed of the game. In the later levels this is less of an issue because the color palettes are more limited and the platforming challenges have more space between them (tighter jumps).

3. Screen Shake and Camera Lerping - The camera moves VIOLENTLY in this game to really emphasize the power and speed of the player. Even after turning the camera shake down I was still struggling to keep my eyes on Anton in certain levels. This may be the worst in the segments where Anton transforms into a bomb and bounces around so quickly that the camera does not keep up. I've played a lot of high speed action games in my life and was still getting disoriented. I think the camera should try to keep Anton a little closer to the center of screen so players feel like their mistakes are something they have time to avoid.

Despite these issues, I am really impressed with the game overall, the art and music are incredible, the levels are distinct, and I think the passion of the devs flows from the screen like it should. The game MIGHT be a little too difficult but that topic is subjective.

This game taught me more assembly than my Computer Science curriculum did.

Beat em up with a solid foundation and system that is fun to learn. Unfortunately the harder difficulties don't offer anything new other than higher damage numbers. The game would be better without the leveling system.
