I have been playing this game for some time. Initially I felt the game was going to be good hence why I have played so much. Now I find myself struggling to find a reason to play.

All I can say is that once you play the game a bit you start to realize how shallow everything actually is in the game.

Weaponry isn't very diverse. The best weapons are very cut and dry and armor really doesn't seem to matter that much on most classes.

Vocations don't exactly have a ton of diverse abilities to play with and once you get master level abilities you just use those and mow enemies down. With basic class building and minimal weapon development they really made it so there isn't a way to actually build out a character of your own making.

I think the worst part is that there is a feeling that you need to go with the Warfarer vocation just because of the necessity of Levitate and you also need some archer skills to open a few doors. Levitate is necessary for any kind of effective exploration. Especially in the early-mid game. This means exclusively playing many classes other than mage/sorcerer will prevent you from exploring random caves and getting to that annoying chest that you can't climb to.

The world also seems very lazy. People know who you are long before you even do anything notable in the story or at least locally via side quest. Hell, the world doesn't even fit the narrative it nits at the start. You are told you are going to have to work to convince people that you are the true "Arison." This is odd because if you immediately abandon the main quest and explore everyone around you will refer to you as the Arison. Hell, everyone in the noble district knew I was the Arison and yet I could just prance around the castle grounds and guards without a problem. This just mentally breaks you out of the world you are supposed to be exploring. Literally everyone in the world knows about the fake king already. It isn't news and quests you are doing to uncover the fake king just becomes a joke.

I honestly believe the reason there are so many collectibles in the game is because it is a cheap way to extend the game. Rather than build out an awesome world with side quests like with Witcher 3 we got worthless seeker tokens instead. Again, lazy development.

The game is also a bit unpolished over a year after release. I failed some quests and had to save scum due to glitches. For example I would go into a home to turn in a quest and the little boy in the house along with his maid would just randomly start beating the crap out of me for no reason. This could only be fixed by sleeping for two full days. Only then would the kid de-agro and leave to get his mommy a flower from her hometown only to later die because his character model would never show up in a later quest location that was time based.

Maybe more advanced RPGs have spoiled me but if I can't have the gameplay or story keep me entertained then what is the point? At least with how linear and unimaginative the gameplay was in DA:Veilguard they at least had a decentish story. It was able to keep me around long enough to finish the game and then move on.

Honestly if you have a RPG that is just chock full of repetitive trash collecting there is a good chance it was added due to a lack of gameplay and/or story development. Got to extend that gameplay somehow so people feel like the purchase was worth the money!

Ultimately the game was just "ok." It was mostly a rehash of Assassins Creed with a Harry Potter skin except with a horrible camera and clunky controls. Exploring wasn't really engaging as it was primarily just looking for more trash items to sell or things that trigger achievements.

Most of your time in the game will be spent collecting crap, popping balloons, landing on platforms, or doing an excessive amount of repetitive Merlin trials. The actual storyline is quite short. There is some interesting lore and nods to Harry Potter but it ultimatly a short game wrapped in a collection package.

Get it on a steep sale or not at all unless you like wandering around for hours at a time.

Just FYI steam glitched. I only played the game for 51ish hours. I collected a ton of stuff hoping it might be useful but most of it was not.
