For the price, it isn't bad, and there's a lot of potential that can be seen in this game; Most of the guns have decent feel, there's some interesting monster designs, and movement is pretty good (except when you're on a slope.)
However, the game is of average length relative to its price and does not have the same robust modding scene that many of the 90s shooters that seemed to serve as inspiration here have. Each of the classic id games go on sale for just slightly more than this costs at full price, and have 20+ years of community modifications when you're finished with the retail product.

All in all, this is a slight recommend, assuming you're a retro FPS junkie and you want to play something you don't already own, as well support a potentially up and coming creator who ideally will take the great that's already in this game, and put it into something much more evenly good a package.

The game is fun and I like it a lot, but for some (myself included) has a crippling error when you've gotten a while into the game. The longer your session lasts in a campaign, the more likely you are to suddenly hit a wall of around 2 FPS, regardless of settings. The only way to fix this, is to either exit the game, or stumble through the remainder of the level and save, and then re-load from the menu. I've otherwise been unable to correct this, and am aware of no intention for a fix. Buy with caution.

For me, this game is an absolute joy. The maps are interesting, as are the monsters.
It's likely a big con for some people that there is story that's all that present, and you'll be doing the same thing at the end of the game that you were doing at the beginning.
However, you have a solid gameplay loop, of key-hunting, killing demons, and searching for secrets to keep you alive through tougher encounters. The balancing done on higher difficulties ensures that what you learn about enemies on lower difficulties still applies, although your room for error get's lower, and the number and types of enemies change. Enemies will always take approximately the same number of shots, according to what type they are, and what weapon you're using. This is so much better than the alternative, of turning them into even bigger bullet sponges.
Anyway, the game is brilliant, even moreso once you learn it, and start playing on Ultraviolence. I got my start on Ultraviolence thanks to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rCTpwLdYQA&list=PLjpAzVTa-X3R9ZFlOprvaFEbl8ySSU1Fj&index=2&t=0s
Since then, I've been blasting away, getting better and better at the game, and if the core gameplay loop doesn't bore you, there's 20+ years of fan made content with more than a few fantastic campaigns to play, giving you feasibly endless base-style content to play. On top of that, total conversions can change the look and feel of the game in its entirety, giving you even more to enjoy. If the game isn't enough, you can find all of that over at Doomworld.
So, grab the game, grab GZDoom, and rip and tear, it's more than worth 5 bucks.

As it stands, the port performs well. 343 Have started off on a good foot, in my personal experience thus far.
If you like Halo, absolutely worth it. If you've never played Halo and think it might be neat, I'd argue that it's still worth it.
Here's hoping the rest of the games receive the same TLC that Reach seemed to get.

Only fundamental issue I've noticed is a lack of granularity in video settings, with Resolution, Vsync, Full/Windowed/Borderless, and 'Normal' or 'Enhanced' being the entirety of what I found.

Game was received through the AMD rewards program, so I'm not sure if I'm actually supposed to mark it as received for free or not. Regardless.

The combat is back, better than ever. The game is beautiful, well optimized, and the story is engaging to boot. Most of all--it is a hell of a good time.

If you like action games with varied and expressive combat systems, this is a no brainer.

If you like Devil May Cry, this is a must-own.

The only gripe for me is that the latter half of the game gets a bit repetitive with the environments, all of them looking mostly same-y.

Edit: As of now game is still fantastic, but has even more added bang for your buck, given that Bloody Palace has been released and allows you to play (assuming you're good enough, unlike me) against all of the bosses with each of the characters, where before you had to mod the game in order to do so.

Where to start?
The game is goofy, it's got a heap-ton of japanese culture and references (as best I would know,) and a well executed story with interesting characters.
On top of this, it often drips with style and charm.

A little background though: I had originally considered this series one of the main reasons I was interested in purchasing a PS4. I waffled around, and eventually settled on trying the original english release on a PS2 emulator to see how I felt about it. It grabbed me almsot immediately, and then I stopped playing a couple hours in. Fast forward to e3 this past year, and lo and behold, Sega has announced that they are bringing 0 and the remake of 1 to steam. I was beyond excited and this became my most anticipated release of the year. Considering what has followed it in terms of release, nothing else really has stoked those flames moreso than this title.

The game came out and I proceeded to excitedly start it up, day of. I got an hour in and the game crashed at the point of going into Karaoke. I started over, and did it again. Another crash. I started over once more after moving the game to a different hard drive. From there my journey continued. The beginning is slow, the characters unfamiliar, and the text you must read vast in amount. To take from a review I had read on the game: This is a foreign film of games. It is uncompromisingly Japanese, to the point that a character you meet in the first hour is called a foreigner by Kiryu, as he is a fair skinned, Blond-haired man (clearly) from out of town (and country.)

Following this intro, I proceeded through the remainder of the game over the course of the next month. At about the halfway point through the game, I realized that I needed to see Kiryu's journey through to the end. I began by purchasing Yakuza Dead Souls on the PS3. Fast forward to today (11-23-18) and I have now purchased all but two games in the main franchise, those being 5 and 6. I have additionally purchased a PS4 so as to continue through the franchise unimpeded while waiting for games to come out. I love this series, through and through, and have already played through Kiwami 1, and am more than halfway through Kiwami 2.

Kiryu as a protagnist may seem dull to some, but he's almost what I would consider a role model. Kind-hearted, strong of mind, body, and soul, and is willing to help just about anyone. I love how at times he seems to be at odds to the absurdity that exists within his game, oftentimes reacting in much the way the player is likely expected to.
Majima is explored in equal parts to Kiryu, and is shown to be more on edge and willing to "do what it takes" to get a job done, but is also shown to be kind-hearted as well, albeit much less naive than Kiryu can be.

The fighting is stylish, and an excellent beat em up, in which you are given access to 3 fighting styles over the course of the game (per each playable character,) with one additional bonus unlockable style.
Beyond this, the game is mostly either mini-games, or reading, depending on your priorities.

The game is very much a "greater than the sum of its parts" kind of thing, and I'm hoping that my enthusiasm and interest might drive others to try it, as it is a really enjoyable series, equal parts goofy and weird as it is serious and dramatic. It's compelling and I can't wait to see whether or not Sega pursues porting the remainder of the series over to PC.

All that aside, the port is pretty good, but nothing super crazy. There were some significant issues for some at launch, but I believe most of those have been ironed out.
Only tip I have in that regard is that you make sure to have the game installed on the same drive as steam, rather than on an external, as that seemed to be what caused my multiple crashes.

Cannot progress any further than putting in the door code and opening the cell door. Literally five minutes in. Disgustingly bad port. Wish I had never purchased as was a waste of 40 dollars. Can't even find a solution for this problem. Thanks for nothing Konami.

Joyous fun, suited to fans of the Star Wars universe of all ages. Runs smoothly on most dated machines, but doesn't allow a terribly large amount of graphical adjustments, so if your compute is on the lower side of the bell curve, it's unlikely that you can adjust the settings to a point where it will be found more agreeable. All in all, delightful in design, gameplay, graphics, and representation of a beloved universe.

Fantastically difficult, yet still rewarding. When you mess up its your fault, not the game being unfair. Worth your time and money.
