Cheap jumpscares. Gameplay mechanics and enemy AI haven't aged well.

Go into this game completely blind, and finish it in one sitting. It's an incredible piece of introspective storytelling. Even after finishing, I can't stop thinking about it (especially the house cleaning chapter). Everyone will come away with their own interpretation of its message, and that's the beauty of it.

The devs are just allergic to ♥♥♥♥ing it up. This new campaign is a cut above, far surpassing the original Chinese expansion. It’s got those "The Titans" vibes when playing, and it’s wild how they've kept the quality and attention to detail on point. The new units are awesome, there's a good amount of levels, the ambiance is epic, and it's a great cultural addition to this already incredible remake. Haven't tried the new gods in multiplayer yet—some say it's kinda unbalanced—but I'm sure balancing patches are way more likely now than they were in the original game (*cof* atlanteans *cof*), so it’s just a matter of time.

It's a drug I can't quit

Excellent voice acting and great visual storytelling. Beautiful graphics. Multiple endings, but none of them really stand out (though there's only so much you can do with a prequel to this sci-fi classic). If you enjoyed Firewatch, you'll surely like this one.

Never played the 2008 original because my parents wouldn’t let their 8-year-old son get it for the Xbox 360, so this remake was my first experience with the series... and I’m hooked. The creepy atmosphere and awesome visuals pulled me in right away. The USG Ishimura is the perfect horror setting, like the Nostromo from Alien, with its eerie sounds and the isolation of space (as well as an INCREDIBLE sound design). The combat, weapons, and upgrades are super satisfying. If you're into sci-fi horror like me, you'll get into the story immediately. Highly recommended!

A remake made with actual love and care (something that’s pretty rare these days).

If you spent countless hours as a kid diving into the in-game encyclopedia, vibing to the epic OST, and learning more about world history and mythology than you did in school, get ready for a serious nostalgia trip. With quality of life improvements, subtle redesigns to campaign missions, and modern remakes of the music and character voices, this is the game I spent hundreds of hours on as a kid, now respectfully enhanced...
