Do you wanna play a cute little soulslike that you can finish in one or two sittings (took me a little over 3 hours) with difficulty and combat variety that's delightfully engaging without being too from soft levels of crushing. I did, and I really really enjoyed this game, I found the doofy procedural animations and world building charming, and found the game had the perfect balance of challenge for me.

I disagree with some reviews and actually found the dodge roll distance and enemy attack variety just about right, however i will say its rather easy to accidentally roll twice in a row due to overly generous input queuing, not a massive issue as you cant fall off terrain. Exploring the levels is rewarding for secret items, and just to enjoy the charming design, however i will say the visibility in the cave levels is way too low, and makes them a chore, though it does lend the sense of fumbling round in the dark i expect they were going for.

Genuinely really enjoyed this game and would say that to me it was worth its full price, let alone it's sale price. One big caveat though, the game has a visual post processing effect to give a bugs-eye-view dynamically hexagonally pixelating (hexalating?) the world as you move, when you rotate the camera or move, this causes all the hexes to shift in screen-space kinda making objects warp a bit, at first it made me feel a little nauseated and mildly headachey, but I did quickly get used to it, and it didnt undermine the fun i had with the game long term. But I couldn't find an option to turn this off, so if you think it would affect you, I'd sadly advise you to give this one a miss.

Okay take Overwatch, and inject a ♥♥♥♥ tonne of bugs, but also so much extra actual fun that you don't care about the glitches, and end up coming back to it anyway. Oh, and then make it free to play.

That's basically it, it is a hero based team shooter, like tf2 or overwatch. If you aren't sure what that is, imagine if someone mixed Dota's champion skill based combat with call of duty.

There are three game modes:
Team deathmatch - a 5 v 5 wild shoot fest, first to the kill quota wins.
Domination - 5v5 again, but there is one central zone, to win a team must be the first to 'capture' the zone by standing inside it more than the enemies (Killing them helps with this)
Siege - as you maybe guessed it this game is 5v5 focussed - more indepth and complicated maps with lots of hidey holes, and paths round the side, this matchup consists of two stages, first each team will try to capture a point in the centre of the map, whoever wins will receive a 'payload'. Next the team who owns the payload will try to walk it all the way to the enemy spawn, they do this by standing next to it when no enemies are nearby, the other team obviously dont want this to happen and will try to kill the people pushing the payload. 1 point is earned for capturing the point, successfully pushing the payload, or for defending against payload by forcing it to time out without reaching you, 4 points to win - but you cant win on a defense.

The game modes are all pretty simple and probably very familiar to a lot of you, but the fun is just in the tactile joy in using all the different skills, there are so many champions to pick from each with 5 skills - a left click, rightclick, q, f, and e and each of these is unique to them, but each of them has a simple pleasure in using, some of them have a long windup so its really satisfying to hit and frustrating to get interrupted, and that really ands to the fun of just playing with them. but more importantly there is no right way to play each champion, you can use skills in dumb ways that actually work, for example you could put up a wall to block enemies, or you could use the wall popping up from the ground to launch them into the sky... or launch your teammates onto a vantage point. not only that you can slightly alter builds to change the effects of skills allowing you to really build a mastery of different ways of using things.

downsides are that it doees have a lot of bugs and oh boy it loves to constantly shake its microtransaction bedazzled booty at you, none of the actual gameplay requires the premium currency (but it will speed up earning it), but it is constantly twelling you about the bonus track rewards you could be earning, or that exclusive skin for your fave that makes everything look cool. just steel yourself against temptation and give it a try cause its pretty fun
