The first extraction shooter worth playing outside of Tarkov. It doesn't scratch the exact same itch, but it has carved out its own take that's actually worth playing. Lower stakes, but less BS.

Plays solid, feels great to play, reminds me of BF3/4 in a good way.

Early Access Review
Edit: Some content updates in since my last review and Im happy with the progress.

TLDR: Next to no content, but a solid foundation to build off, from a developer with a proven track record.

I got the original Wreckfest all the way back in 2013. It had a somewhat tumultuous road to 1.0, but it got there in the end. It now has tons of cars and tracks. As well as a healthy online community plugging away racing each day. So picking up this sequel on launch felt like an easy decision.

Right now there is next to no content. But crucially, it feels great to play, looks fantastic, and on my system at least, runs really well. For reference I have a 5800x3D and a 4070ti Super, and with that I'm running the game on Ultra and getting anywhere from 150-200 fps at 1440.

So with this game already feeling good, it seems like they will be well positioned to start building out the content. And given where the original ended up, I'm confident in BugBears ability to do so.

I must be lucky because the game runs and looks great. No crashes. Smooth frame rate even with ray tracing turned up. The only issue I've seen so far is significant noise with ray reconstruction turned on. Disabling it fixes the issue, it still looks good though so that's minor.

As I've grown older, I find myself less taken with single-player games. It all feels a little "been here, done this". Perhaps I'm just too cynical. Perhaps I've suffered too much grief to truly appreciate life like I once did. So to say this DLC was special is really saying something. It hit me in all the right ways, it elevated itself above what I expected. So much so the main game feels lacking in comparison. If you have any enjoyment from the base game, you will get the same ten times over from this.

I waited until the game was fully fixed and feature complete, I have zero regrets in that. The game has been glitch free and a lot of fun so far. I do wish the opening hours weren't so boring, but once the game opens up the fun kicks in heavy.

I find a scrapper, I pick an item I have two of. It scraps them both.... what? It says scrap will be prioritised for 3d printer. Cool. It uses one of my other items instead of my two useless pieces of scrap.... What?
