Early Access Review
I normally wouldn't leave a negative review on an early-access game that is subject to change frequently, but seeing valid criticisms be dismissed as "kneejerk reactions" by the devs is pathetic.

Not a single change from the recent balance patch seems to have been made in the interest of enhancing player enjoyment. Many games are challenging, and this game isn't "too hard" — the problem, to me, is that the winning strategies in this game just aren't that fun to build for or execute.

Fun things (infinites, small decks, Tanx's Tri-Boomerang, etc.) and powerful cards get nerfed or removed while weak and borderline useless cards remain largely unchanged. The game would be a lot more fun if every card/option felt useful, but following this trajectory they will soon all feel equally worthless. If that's the development philosophy of Slay the Spire 2, then I recommend you stay away.

Discovering the trait point cap killed my enthusiasm for this game instantaneously.

I've been having a great time playing this game, and looking forward to playing it when I can; after playing and loving the first game for hundreds of hours I knew I would. Despite frame rate issues it has been fun, until I picked up a skill book and got the "achievement" telling me that I would never get another skill point again. The first game allowed you to get over 800 skill points, this game a measly 60. Rather than balancing the game around what is fun for the player, the trait system is now balancing the player's fun around the game; every point you put into a useless trait that gives you faster basket-weaving now is going to cost you to remove later.

I would love to get my strong enthusiasm back for this game and amend this review, but I don't recommend this game until the trait point cap is removed.

Takes a bit of creative license on the lore with the attack helicopter section, but otherwise a solid installment.
