I think this is straight up the best way to play MGS3 now, assuming your PC can run it. Game looks incredible and plays mostly like the original but with a better control scheme imo. The added stuff like crouch walk and aiming while moving feels like it fits well into the game. The bosses ARE a little easier like people have said, but I think that just comes down to the fact that the aiming controls feel way better than the original, so you miss fewer openings on the bosses than you used to.

Also the game looks incredible. It's a really demanding game, but honestly I think it makes some sense when you consider how detailed it really is. Some people might not like that the graphics look more realistic than the original, and that's something you'll have to decide for yourself. Personally, when I consider how each game got more realistic looking as time goes on, I feel like the goal was always to have MGS look realistic, and I think with that in mind the realistic graphics suit the game just fine. The voice acting fits the realistic looking characters better than I thought it would too.

Would recommend to anyone with a good enough PC to run it how you'd like, especially if maybe you wanted to try Metal Gear before but were weary about outdated controls or something else. That, or if you just like stealth games or Metal Gear already, they did a good job with this I think.

I spent 115 hours hanging out with this cast, listening to this music, and killing ♥♥♥♥ in the TV and I still wish it wasn't over.

This game is a 10/10 for me. The main cast is amazing. They have such great chemistry with each other and their arcs are top notch, the gameplay is fun and varied enough that the game never gets tiring even though the game is like 70 hours long, and the MUSIC. If this game was just the music, it'd still be a 10. The fact that all this other stuff is included is crazy.

On top of all of that, the game just has a great message and theme that I think applies to us all. Some aspects of the dungeon crawling are very simple and could be expanded on, but the gameplay is so varied and dynamic that this part never hurt the game at all for me.

Even if this doesn't resonate as deeply with you as it did for me, I think there's enough here to keep just about anyone entertained through end credits.

Great start to what I could see being a great game. There are a surprising amount of these hover-car fast-paced racing games that are "inspired by F-Zero", but this one truly feels like it understands what makes those games really special while still managing to be its own thing. The tight controls, ultra high speed, great music, top tier visual clarity and its unique mechanics are what make this game feel like a step above other competition in this narrow sector of the industry.

The game really is early access as hell though. There are checkerboard unfinished textures in every stage (some stages are just about finished and others are very much not done), the mode selection is a bit sparse at the moment, and 2 cups worth of tracks are yet to come, along with half the other cars/pilots. What IS here is great so far though. The available track layouts are a lot of fun to play on, the visuals (where they're finished) are really fun to look at, the music and sound design are great, and I especially enjoy the visual designs for the in-game ships.

Biggest gripe I have with the game right now would be that I would really like more varied challenges in the game's career mode. Basically right now the challenges are a race, then a special challenge that usually unlocks you a vehicle. For these special challenges the goal is usually to beat a time trial or something similar, or to win a race with a special stipulation (like a 1 on 1, or maybe all the racers are a weird clone of a specific pilot). I'd like to see maybe some different modes, like maybe one where you have to destroy all your competition, or maybe one where you avoid touching the ground using the game's flight mechanic, or maybe even one where you have to keep your speed above a certain threshold to survive the race. I think some more variance could go a long way in making the career mode more fun.

Within 5 hours I've seen most of what the game has to offer so far. The game doesn't have a lot of content in it yet, but I also feel like this is the type of game I'll boot up every now and again just because it's fun to keep playing, much like I've been doing with F-Zero games for the past 20 years. The game is so easy to pick up and play and yet it's deep enough that you could really invest time in to get good if you wanted to. There's a lot of fun to be had per-hour here and the content already in the game more than justifies the price in my opinion.

I would absolutely recommend this game to F-Zero fans, racing game fans, or anybody looking to try something new. For early access the game is already in great shape, and it seems like it will only get better from here.

Honestly, if they fix a few shortcomings of the game, this would be probably the best rally game out there (without mods).

The game has a great handling model, basically just being a DiRT Rally 3 but with official WRC branding. The stages can be super long and intense, and when you get into a groove and just zone out and execute on a tough stage, it feels incredible. If you liked DiRT Rally and its sequel, this is basically that but bigger and better.

Since they ditched the rallycross events from the DiRT Rally games, there are more full rally courses here, which is awesome. None of them are reused from the previous games either, so course here is completely new. The game also has seasons now, which can change the road conditions depending on when you drive a course (for example, Monte Carlo ices over in the winter, but is a dry high speed track during the summer).

You can also now play regular rally events online which are pretty fun, even though they mostly boil down to doing time trials vs your friends. You can also create your own rally car, which seems like kind of a shallow add-on, but is kind of fun to play around with for a bit.

The real big add on here (besides just having larger stages and more of them, and I guess newer cars) is the new single player campaign. This hugely expands on the previous game, where you would just enter a championship and do some races and be done. Now you manage a rally team, and you have budgets to stay within for expenses, you have to manage the stress levels of your engineers and stuff too. Each week you get to choose an activity to do, including entering rally races, taking rest weeks, going to auto shows, go to talent scouting events, etc etc. The biggest flaw that I can find in this mode is just that it's too easy. I have it on hard or "Restrictive" mode but it's still too easy to keep the sponsors happy, even if I'm DQing out of rallies and stuff the sponsors don't get upset with me. I'd really like to see more difficulty options so I can make the team management part harder, hopefully that's something they'll cook up.

Luckily though, the extra management mechanics are not very intrusive, and the majority of the game is still about the driving, so even if you don't care much about these things they shouldn't get in the way of the important part of the game, being the driving.

That being said, I did say it had a few issues that needed solved for it to really be the best. Here are the current problems:

1. Game still has stuttering and optimization issues even after the first patch. This could be fixed, but game just runs slow and stutters too much for how it looks. Like, the game looks good, but honestly not much better than DiRT Rally 2, yet I can't run it at ultra on a 7800XT and get 60 fps consistently. (your mileage may vary with the stuttering though, as when I first started playing I was on a GTX 1070 Ti running low settings, and I got basically no stutters. It could be tied to some of the higher visual settings, and I've noticed it stuttering less over time on the new graphics card, but performance could still be improved a LOT).

2. No VR Support. I'm not personally effected by this issue that much, but it's an odd exclusion considering the first two games had it, and this is seemingly built off of a lot of the same technology as those games. Not sure if they plan to add this in the future, but they'd be stupid not to.

3. The game looks good, but there are a good amount of scenarios where the colors just look washed out. Clear days in particular can be a bit too yellow on regular dirt stages for some reason, which is weird cause the footage in the trailers don't really look as bad as they do in game. There are a lot of scenarios where the game looks incredible though, and the assets here are all clearly of high quality. Maybe there will be good reshade mods for this game. This is a bit less of a game breaking issue but more of a weird jarring thing about.

Basically, if they optimize the game more and fix the stuttering, add back in VR support, mayybe add some difficulty options and iron out some other issues people are having, I really don't know what else they can do to improve the game. It's a blast just like its predecessors, but it just offers more. The greater variety in stages and the addition of the team management stuff really round the game out well, makes the single player feel more complete than in previous games.

Originally I recommended this game because it had a lot of promise with good core mechanics and stuff, but definitely needed polish and more content to be worth its price.

Now that a year has passed, I can say they've added enough content to be worth the price by itself, though I think the visuals are where this game falls flat. It has improved since launch with optimization improvements and some changes, but overall still looks very unpolished.

That being said, game is very fun if you're into drifting and Initial D, etc. They've added a good number of modes, tracks and cars to drive around, and the online is VERY fun. you just join a lobby cruise around and challenge people to races, etc. It's a good time.

$15 feels well worth for all of this stuff, though I still wish the visuals were a bit more polished, with better lighting and effects.

Probably the coolest way to market games so far. It's free, so why not see how cool this is?
