If you're alright with playing a somewhat unfinished open world, co-op, action-rpg with mostly gear based progression, there is an overall enjoyable game here with a fair level of challenge. 7.5/10

Not recommended solo, 2 people minimum. Also up the loot drops in the settings if grinding endlessly late game isn't for you.

Never has a game made me so angry as Spelunky 2 has. The amount of random bs that can kill you without your consent is insane and getting better at the game not only includes learning how to move through the levels. But also maneuvering around insta kill spikes pits, lava pools and other deadly obstacles that will happily ruin your run instantly should you fall prey to them.
Spelunky 2 is an unruly beast that does not play nice and offers you no sympathy, but offers a feeling of success like no other. Performing a difficult trick or reaching a new area/item after hours upon hours of struggle feels amazing and that rush of victory will keep you coming back time after time until your satisfied. I cant wait for multiplayer so I can drag my friends gleefully into this dark, mole infested hell-hole.

Fun co-op gameplay tied with a real sense of danger and excitement make this an enjoyable experience only held back by rigid movement and an outdated engine. Looking forward to the sequel.

2D Smash meets overused tropes and shenanigans. GC SSig/10 would brawl again.
