Early Access Review
Such a fun game. It's absolutely perfect for playing with children or partners/friends that do not usually play games. The developers are making consistent and large updates to the game, and overall I have had very few issues with it that you might expect from an early access game. I've even spent a bit of time on my own just doing jobs to relax or save up for one of the mansions you can own. I genuinely can not recommend this game enough. If this even remotely looks like something you or someone you know would enjoy, I can 100% recommend trying it out. Great community and great devs!

The awful launch of this game scared me away from ever buying it, but after 4 years of constant updates I decided that I should give it a shot. I got it for 50% off, and I would go as far as saying it definitely is worth the price even without a discount. This is the most I have played a game in a while and I can't wait to play more. There is a lot going on with this game, and it takes a while to figure out. Even after 17 hours there's still wayyyyy more content to see than what I already have seen. If you are at all interested in space exploration or base building, this game has a lot to offer, but that doesn't even scratch the surface of all the content. This game is definitely at a point where I can recommend it.

I want to note that this game is definitely a time commitment. There is a lot to do, and even after 17 hours I'm barely getting started. For some that may be a good thing, for others you may not want a game that needs dozens or even hundreds of hours to feel like you've conquered it.

I'm only 4 hours in, but I'm surprised it took me so long to try this game. The negative reviews definitely scared me off, but now that I'm playing it, few of their gripes make sense to me.
They often complain that there aren't enough active skills and variation, and then complain that the game encourages playing as different characters (variation) each run. While you may prefer some characters over others, you still get benefits for every character, like increased health or crit for everyone by leveling up specific characters, so you're always improving the whole cast.
I've also seen people say that the combat is clunky, which is true for some characters that act more as tanks, and totally false for the assassin type character and ranged characters who are much more fluid. It makes sense that tanky characters would be less fluid to me.
If you're hesitant about purchasing because of the negative reviews than I would suggest trying it out yourself, because I don't think many of the complaints hold up. The art and narration is great, and I find the gameplay very enjoyable. There's plenty of content for the asking price, and the devs are still actively updating the game after years. I personally love roguelikes, and they make up a lot of my game library between steam and my nintendo switch. This one is already shaping up to be one of my favorites.

I played the first game years ago on my Nintendo switch and loved it. Just started playing and can already tell this one is going to be great as well. It's a super casual RPG experience, and just a good way to wind down and relax. The game isn't difficult by any means, but that makes the co-op story experience great for friends or partners who are not the best at games. Super charming and super fun.

Thought I beat the game on the first try, and was worried that it was too easy. Then I was hit with the "Congratulations, now you can move on to the next 35 episodes with increasing difficulty!" So I definitely will not be beating the game anytime soon. If you are familiar with roguelike deckbuilder type games, I'm sure you will will enjoy this one.

I can already see how RNG could hurt a run or get annoying, but there are equipment cards that are specifically used for reducing RNG dependency, so if other reviews are scaring you (about how bad the RNG is) I wouldn't worry *too* much. All roguelike games include some form of RNG, and it does have a larger effect on games like this where it isn't action based (like Isaac or Hades). But when a game is literally about "rolling the dice" I think it isn't too detrimental to the experience, especially with the inclusion of cards that can reroll/change your dice. There are a lot of interesting mechanics going on in this game. The inventory/equipment management and the card upgrades are really cool and I think if this game looks like something you would enjoy, you probably will. I got it on sale for ~$5.00 US and I think that is an excellent price for the amount of content you get.

Even as the game is now, I think it was totally worth my money. It's still in early access and some content is missing and some balancing is obviously required, but it is still a very nice experience. The content that is in the game is highly polished and fun. If you liked the first rogue legacy, you'll absolutely love this one. It is pretty grindy by nature, but it's a grind that I have so far enjoyed, and I think any fans of the rougelite genre will as well.

Good, pure fun. Plenty of official levels and community content is integrated well. Sandbox mode is super fun, and the ability to control any unit makes the game even better.
