Take Apex Legends popular Arena Mode and combine it with Fortnite's skill check when mining things, a reverse capture the flag phase, and Rainbow Six Siege's fortification/bomb game mode and you have Highguard.

In my first game I suffered FPS drops inside the base locations and even a teammate disconnected and my random teammate and I had to deal with a 3v2 situation. We locked in and even won the match which felt great.

The movement and gunplay all feel very familiar to that of Apex Legends, so I believe players who are familiar with Apex will have the least amount of trouble breaking into this game. There is the addition of horses in which I feel they only added because they accidentally made the maps too big. The maps feel too large sometimes for a 3v3, just a lot of open space that isn't lived in. But I have a feeling they may experiment with larger parties in the future since the game mode is called "3v3 Siege" versus just "Siege".

When I watched streamers play, I had a hard time finding out what would make this game feel like a competitive shooter. What would get the blood and adrenaline flowing? And the most fun I had is when we matched with a team of similar skill and we went pound for pound until both teams were at 5 hp left on their bases. Both teams now played very cautiously. Which ever team was able to obtain the Shield Breaker and break the enemy bases shield would win but we were so evenly matched that the timer ran out and we ran into Overtime.

Overtime hits when no team has successfully used the sword to break the bases shield within the time limit. Respawns are shut off but teammates can still revive you. If you're team wipes, the winning team automatically gets to raid your base which means we would lose. If the timer in Overtime runs out, the team holding the sword automatically gets the raid which forces the other team to be aggressive and not just wait for an ambush. I thought this scenario was the most fun I had in the game and reminds me a little bit of the Overtime in Overwatch.

I do think like Apex, this game will become a very difficult game to get into as a newbie in the long run, once players really figure out how to be good at it. Because its a 3v3, it will be super competitive by default because everything is in your control. You don't have to worry about getting third partied like in a BR which is out of your control.

That being said, the game does have its flaws. There are obvious stability and performance issues that even the higher end PC's are running into. Bindings that just stop working and game crashes. There are some settings that are missing, and some bindings such as crouch toggle/hold that are non-existent. But this is a live service free to play game, those issues will be resolved in time. It's more important to me that the game feels fun and I think it has a great foundation to be good.

I think its a fun game, I don't think the devs deserved all the forced hate they received before the game even launched. I urge you to form your own opinion and if you had trouble running the game then try coming back in a month or so and give it another shot then. The most you'll lose is some of your time, unlike $40 with Concord.

The Finals feels like a great FPS shooter if you are looking for something new.
It is a Free 2 Play title so it is a type of game where you have to play a good chunk to unlock new weapons and gear for your 3 class types. It is not a hero shooter like Apex Legends. It feels more like Battlefield in this regard.

And like all other Free 2 Play games, it has a Battle Pass. Its too early for me to tell if any of the weapons, skins, and gear have any "Pay 2 Win" feel or advantages. Plus I usually don't plan to buy a BP unless I finished everything completely.

The game doesn't have a kill cam which seems silly to me since the concept is a televised match inside a stadium full of spectators. So when you die and it felt like someone could be cheating, you can't really check to confirm it. The game does have cross play so you can just tell yourself you ran into aim assist.

I also find playing this game in a Solo Q is quite frustrating if you aren't in communication with your team mates. And all it takes its one enemy time to be semi coordinated to ruin the whole match for you.

Weapons and gear have no real customization to them besides skins. So don't get your hopes up on equipping something like a scope to your weapon moving forward. You'll just have to unlock a weapon that has a scope by default.

I have no opinions on rank play because I haven't tried it yet but overall I would recommend the game. I hope it continues to develop in the right direction because we all know Nexons reputation.

Early Access Review
If you were around for the Phasmophobia craze, I would say Lethal Company's success is very similar. Both started off with humble beginnings being developed and published by a single individual and receiving major attention once clips of the game made its way to social media.

With that being said, I'm not much of a writer so I'd like to end this review with my personal Pro's and Cons.

Pros:
- Has a pretty good proximity chat and audio design and great with friends.
- Replayability is very high and you will experience something new every time.
- Has a great cast of unique enemies to deal with and the enemies somehow have impeccable comedic and horrific timing to provide you with plenty of clips and memories of you and your friends getting dragged away in to the darkness.
- The game is easily moddable and modders are already hard at work to keep things interesting while the updates are slowly coming out as well.

Cons:
- The game does lose its charm a little bit after you learn and experience everything it currently has to offer. So its always fun to try and find a new friend to play with who has not played before to keep things interesting.
- Although there is a good number of "moons" you can visit, there's only two procedural types at the moment so you will be seeing the same scenery quite often for now.
- You kind of just get thrown into it. Instructions are provided but very hard to read with the way you have to scroll and I feel gets ignored most of the time. Playing solo is a completely different experience and just not as fun but its a good way to get yourself familiarize with the game.

Was a fun game, was surprised how deep it can be. Though the controls and combat can be janky at times and the game isn't the best looking game out there its still a lot of fun.

I could never get the hang of the combat though so it helps to bring a friend along so you both can die together.
