Great game, really enjoying it. Its essentially what a modern Ghosts and Goblins would be. My only real complaint is the limited continues, which results in your save file being deleted after you run out. If this game had an option for infinite continues, it would be much easier to enjoy.

I would like to start this review by addressing the most frequent complaints I see with this game. Many people take issue with the toxicity present in the community, and the struggles with the PvP aspects, particularly when playing alone. I learned the game solo, and have almost always played solo; I very infrequently engage in PvP and have only struggled with these aspects in the very beginning while I was learning. Yes, there are people who play this game with the prime objective to kill other players and ultimately make them have a worse experience. Yes, these same people will be mean to you and trash talk you if you complain in game or online.

There is, however, a relatively simple way to address this issue. The view distance in this game is quite large, and once you see a boat on the horizon, it can take a few minutes to reach your position even if you are docked. By constantly maintaining an awareness of your surroundings, it can be quite easy to avoid confrontations with other players. This can be tedious and exhausting at times, but I actually find that it contributes to my enjoyment. Without the risk of a PvP confrontation, there is no thrill within the game. Sea of Thieves without the Thieves is just a Sea, and it quickly begins to feel like an idle game.

To talk about the game itself, its magnificent. The main appeal for me, and many others I have met, is the sailing. I doubt any other game on the market is a more comprehensive sailing experience. You have to manage the anchor, sails, wheel, repairs, floods, cannons, and supplies manually. The graphics are a strong complement to the sailing experience, as this game also has the most gorgeous water graphics perhaps only matched by Subnautica.

The combat is simple, but enough to be engaging. Combat functions more as an obstacle to an objective (money) rather than an objective in itself. On land, you have a sword and one of 3 guns, which provides sufficient variety. On your boat, you can man the cannons, which are intensely gratifying to land a hit with, or shoot yourself out of.

Previous complaints about the community aside, I have met many wonderful people while playing this game. Probably the best way to alleviate PvP woes is to get more men and a bigger ship, which is as easy as a few clicks in SoT. I have seen some complaints about the quick matching with crews, and have had my fair share of bad and uncommunicative crews, but the official discord always has players looking for a group. Plenty of people are willing to help new players, too.

TL;DR: Good game, always be aware of your surroundings, maybe get a crew, have fun!

Complaints about the pricing model of this DLC seem kind of irrelevant, negative reviews knew what they were buying but chose to purchase anyway then make a negative review to complain.

If you want to spend extra money for cosmetics, buy this. If not, no need to purchase.

Under the radar game that has a nice feel to the combat. The dev updates this almost everyday and is incredibly active in the discord, he implements changes that people suggest all of the time.

Grab this if you like experimenting with different skills/skill trees, diablo-style loot grinding, fast paced horde combat, and a good 1-4 player game.
