Brutal and Beautiful. It is as unforgiving as it gets but when you make that extract, it all feels worthwhile.

This game does a lot of refreshing things that most big game companies are missing these days.

It is a cinematic experience that honestly doesn't overstay it's welcome and has plenty of content to work through if you feel the need to explore every nook and cranny.

The characters are all endearing in one way, shape or form, with plenty of memorable moments and performances.

The music is top tier and fits the theme of the game perfectly. Up there with some of the best video game music ever.

The combat system is robust and has heaps of freedom to build and play how you want, with busted builds being very possible with little experience.

That being said, it is not perfect. Inventory management and menus are lacking some character and quality of life functionality. The game could benefit from having a better map system and/or minimaps for some of the "dungeons". Some bosses can feel unfair at first as they will directly counter a common strategy, this will require you to rework your team. In of itself, reworking your skills/pictos and team would be fine if there was a build saving function, but there isn't so it can become frustrating.

Despite all this, Sandfall has produced an absolute amazing game that is well worth your time even if you aren't a fan of turn based games.

While not perfect, I have to admit that I have thoroughly enjoyed the game so far. The story is fairly cliched and the characters are overall a mixed bag. That being said, the combat carries the game forward as it is just so damn fun.

I feel like a majority of reviews around this game center on things that either make the game "unplayable" or a "masterpiece". I would not agree with either of these two quotes and neither should you.

In reality this game falls into the category of being something that is a bit of a paradox. Dense and empty, interesting and bland, fun and tedious. It's all of these things and more.

I'll be the first to admit that I hoped this game would scratch the itch that Skyrim gave me some 12 years ago. It hasn't. That's the reality. If you were expecting that, look elsewhere.

That being said, I love this game. It's not without it's flaws but it does that Bethesda game magic at making me feel like I have the power to do whatever I wish in a big sandbox. I finished the main story after my 66 hours of gameplay. In that time I took on alien horrors, conducted corporate espionage, infiltrated pirates and more. On the flipside, I got obsessed with ship customisation and space combat, outpost building and even cargo hauling.

The game is it's own experience. I know it sounds cliche or crap if I say you just have to try and see if you like it but that really is the reality with this game.

Now to look forward to TESVI

One of the best games you will ever play. Sure, it has it's flaws (repeated bosses, crap performance and ganky builds) but it brings so much more to the table. It is a must play for everyone!

As a history teacher I absolutely love this game to death, it takes me back to a time playing Age of Empires 2 and 3 on my dad's work laptop in the mid 2000s as a kid. It's a return to form and the documentaries that are provided alongside the game absolutely make this a must buy for me.

Despite all the hate that people threw at Larian for BG3 not being a proper sequel to the og BG games, in regards to combat and gameplay style, I absolutely fell in love with this game. The characters, while most being a**holes, have so much potential for growth and feel lifelike in their motivations and agendas. The combat was again excellent and the potential for hybrid playthroughs and replayability is amazing, I played the first run as a paladin before realising that warlock kicked a** and changed how I encountered scenarios in my second run. The story itself seems interesting and engaging so far and I'm sure it will only get better with time. Overall, my experience was enjoyable and far outweighed the misgivings of Larian sticking to their established strengths in turn based combat rather than real time w pause. Can't wait for the full release!

edit: Full release was hype ASF
