Put 20-30 hours into the demo (early access basically) and yeah, it's a pretty solid MMO taking place in a fictional Age of Sail.

Instead of a character, you control a ship. Buy and sell commodities to and from other players. Sail around and sink NPCs. Get better and kill bigger NPCs. If you want PvP, there's plenty of it. Build mines and factories. Have a personal island. Have three personal islands! It scratches the oldschool MMO itch really well.

Since it's F2P, there's monetization. That's implied when a game is F2P. I don't know how people think they're going to keep the servers up and running without it unless they start charging for the game up front. Grow up. Even after the monetization went into effect I'm having just as much fun as I was before without buying anything. Skill issue.

It's fun, it's funny, it's hiding a lot of depth under the hood. It's a mess, but it's a glorious one, and the dev has a good sense of humor. The jank is very much in your face, and at the moment there's quite a bit of it. But I do believe it'll get refined into something better and better. If you like big explosions, napalm, and jank, then you shouldn't sleep on this one.

Best sword fighting game around. Award patience, precision, and controlling the flow. As soon as proper multiplayer gets added, this is going to go bananas!

It's actually really good! If this had come out back in the early-mid 2000's it would've been extremely popular. Feels smooth and practical and has good QoL.

Great game mechanically speaking, but the developers have crossed a red line with their own community and that has soured me on all of their games.

World of Warships player here. I tried War Thunder and quickly found that the naval combat is garbage, so I came to try this out because surely it beats WT's ground combat since it's focused solely on tanks, right? Nope. Just go play WT unless you're already established here, in which case nothing can likely make you switch over unless the WoT servers close down.

TL;DR Inferior armor/penetration/damage mechanics. One game depends on a health bar, the other actually takes into account each little piece of damage your shot does.

Devs removing monetization out of their own game! If you want the gaming industry to move away from microtransactions, season passes, and lootboxes, support people like this!

I've tried to get into this game a few times since getting it over a year ago. Unfortunately it became one of those games that just sits in my library collecting dust. It's nicer to look at it's name while I scroll through my selection than it is to actually play it.

It takes a lot of inspiration from the likes of Banished, which is originally why I bought it, but where Banished was a fairly novel game when it first game out, I don't feel that Endzone did enough new things to distinguish itself from the crowd of this new take on city building.
