The game is retired but like, it's still pretty awesome. You should probably get the Definitive Edition at this point though. It's got a lot of nice improvements.

Damn, here I was minding my own business, enjoying my second amendment rights. And you people have to freak out on me.

The DLC should really be cheaper as it really adds a lot to the experience. The base game itself is still excellent and should be considered if you're a fan of city building simulators.
Mod support is very good, offering a huge array of elements that can solve quite a number of issues with the game itself. Thanks to the available mods, you can go very in depth when it comes to customizing your cities.
I recommend initially starting off with the base game, then adding additional content through mods or DLC. It can be pretty complicated initially if you're new to the genre. I do highly recommend doing a bit of research on some of the best available mods if the game starts to feel a bit bland. At the very least though, I recommend looking at some of the community maps as quite a number of them are massive and very well done.
A+ game, DLC gets expensive.

Get it on console.
This game has been incredibly buggy as of late, and these issues are incredibly common:
Severe random lag spikes (they even show up replays, basically everything becomes incredibly slow and you teleport out of it into a random spot).
Random controller and wheel disconnections

These two issues are incredibly annoying and don't appear to be an issue on console. It's a shame because the physics are outstanding, the weather effects are top notch, there are a ton of vehicles and tracks, there are overall a ton of excellent qualities when it comes to this game. But even people with very high end systems are experiencing these issues. Why does this game have so many issues for so many players? My system isn't even being pushed all that hard, I turned down its settings and it runs as smooth as butter until one of those random lag spikes happen.

God awful, severe, performance issues. Like, the physics are pretty good (it's very much an arcade racer, don't expect realism) BUT the performance is what absolutely kills this game. Constantly, and I mean like 4 or 5 times a race, I have to pause the game or else it'll lag out severely. My CPU, GPU, RAM, and disc usage are all normal when this happens. My PC isn't being pushed at all, yet these severe lag spikes still occur. This has the potential to be a good game but the severe performance issues makes this mess unplayable. Check around online, stuttering is a common problem.

Fix your game, KT Racing. A less robotic co-driver would be nice as well.
