this is no release state, this is early access or beta state! i try to like it but its worse gameplay mechanics than kf2, no content, a huge load of bugs, low player count... not a big deal if you call it early access but if you call it release than it failed and you look greedy with your micro transactions and premium versions and gamepass, you lost all your good name tripwire...

cool game but needs more players, but can also be played solo tho. and it really needs a very hard game mode and missions 3 times as long

server issues make it unplayable at peak gaming times, what a rediculous launch... and no offline mode available that we could use during server outages either. why not p2p to avoid such bs? and even without all those issues the game is halfassed and not even half as complex and detailed as payday 2 was...

edit:
server issues gone and the game is ok-ish now, but i wont change this to a positive review till the feature depth actually reaches that of payday2. pretty sure they just released an unfinished product an add all that stuff later on, which is a bad way to release a game if its a full release and not an early access which it should have been.

first off, now that the game has a pve coop mode most of the negative reviews dont really count anymore imo. i agree the pvp mode was bad and it should have been pve right at the beginning, now its a complete different thing. also before the the pve release it could have been problematic sometimes to find enough players, but now this already seems much better since now people seem to finally start buying and playing the game. after the free weekend the player peek already more than tripled and i hope for further multiplying now that people get to know its pve. even after the weekend i always found a group within less than a minute, so thats already not a problem anymore it seems.

that beeing said, the game itself is fun and might have some minor flaws here and there but overall its a solid pve coop game now. like 3d sound is a bit off sometimes so you cant always rely on it of a button press might fail sometimes but you get used to such minor things so not a problem at all. the map design is pretty good and they are medium sized, music fits in well, gameplay encourages working together and sneaking and silent take down mechanics. when somebody ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and raises an alarm the open fight while not sneaking and the different gadgets the classes have works good too and is fun and it also encourages helping each other there and to avoid such situations since you dont get to feel powerful enough to just run without sneaking and kill everything. the classes seem pretty balanced and complement each other well and everything seems to have its use.

righ now the game only has 5 chars and 6 maps so it would definately profit from more content, but its seems new content of that sort is coming and i hope the devs focus on that now. the maps have a good replayability since the 3 different objectives and guards locations are kinda randomized, so it doesnt get old too fast but it would definately profit from more maps and maybe even more different objectives, i hope the devs are working on that already.

besides that for those who care, the dlcs or "battle passes" are only tons of cosmetics like weapon and clothing skins and still have to be unlocked after buying, and while the base game itself has quiet alot of cosmetics too those dlc cosmetics can sadly not be obtained in any other way. the new added game content itself like the new char or new maps for example seems to be always for free, which is important to me and i hope it will stay like that.

to describe the actual gameplay for those who have no idea what im talking about:
you play the robin hood gang doing a heist against the state to give the money to the poor. the group consists of 4 players with different classes (you can even have the same char more than once in a group) each with their own special ability usable by filling a meter, different throwable gadget, and weapon typ. you sneak through villages and strongholds to find the sherrif and steal his key while killing or out-manouvering guards and trying to avoid alarms, then you search for the vault, open it with that key and steal a crate filled with gold, then you have to bring that crate to an extraction point and put it on a winch. the winching raises an alarm that keeps spawning new guards in that area and the sherrif slowly starts moving there. you have to fight off the guards and eventually the sherrif till the winching process is completed. the sherrif is kinda invincible and can only be downed temporarly and your mission fails when he manages to reach the winch, so you have to use some classes special abilities or gadgets or some other tactics to keep him from reaching the winch in time.

so in my opinion the game really deserves a bigger playerbase and if it sounds interesting now that it has a pve mode you should go ahead and just buy it. standard price is 30€ over here which is a bit expensive and it should rather be 20€ knowing that it desperately needs more players because it sucked when it was pvp only and lost its playerbase back then. with discount right now it is only 18€ which is ok and on key sites you can even get it for about 15€ so if you missed the deal here you might still get a chance there. plus i hope they are smart enough to know do the free weekends and discounts like that more often now to advertise its new pve mode.
