if you're into trios and queuing with randoms, this is the game for you. if duos or single player is your thing, it's a miserable experience. the storm moves way too quickly, the bosses are setup in an unfun way that doesn't feel fair, the constant time crunch making even the little mistakes early on end your run tens of minutes in advance is just stress, not fun. Elden ring bosses are about learning them through multiple attempts, but in order to retry any boss, especially nightlords, you have to replay up to an hour of a new run to get a chance at attempting it. Single player is insanely unbalanced especially with the time youre given to do everything. HOWEVER. As soon as you reach the other side of the skill and knowledge curve, this is when it becomes the most fun fromsoft game mechanically since sekiro. I only recommend it for the most determined

It's a very cute game and it's free and i really enjoy the gameplay *concept*, but the way the sword play is implemented makes it just feel less satisfying, with enemies getting cut down just by walking into the sword, giving not much reason to actually slash or anything. The writings alright, theres some strange wording and a lack of punctuation, but thats not a big deal. I didnt play much more because i genuinely couldnt figure out how to progress after the first real mission.

It really is such a fun game, what keeps me from wanting to play more and more often though is just how disjointed the pacing of the 'campaign' feels and the fact that most levels (so far) just bleed into each other, as alot of them use the same assets, lighting, styles, etc.
I get that making original assets for each level would be impossible within a reasonable time frame, but i wouldve taken a shorter game with more distinct level chunk styles, than a longer game with a bunch of same-y feeling levels. That's just me though, its still a great game.

It's too early to speak my full thoughts on this game but it really is like top 5 games of all time for me. It ain't perfect though, and I wanted to speak some criticism here just to get it off my mind and into writing.

Replayability is clearly emphasized and encouraged with secret bosses, secret eggs, different cutscenes depending on dialog options, etc. and yet at the same time, there's tons of unskippable cutscenes which becomes super apparent when going for T ranks in chapter 3, or speedruns in general. Not that this game SHOULD de-emphasize the writing and cutscenes, but on repeat playthroughs especially after finishing the chapter before, there really should be an option to skip said cutscenes, and theres already progress put towards that with the sleeping through cutscene feature that occassionally comes up. There's also the issue of limited settings like audio balance and also not being able to access the menu to quit out or change stuff in the light world, and during many segments like each game board in chapter 3, which makes it so that quitting out to retry ranked segments and such, forces you to alt-f4 and relaunch the game entirely, often having to wait through boot up sequences and animations. Undertale yellow has an option when you lose any fight (or maybe any boss fight?) to retry without going back to save point and having to reinitiate the boss which i quite enjoyed, and you get that during the chapter 3 secret minigame boss and chapter 3 superboss, which i very much appreciate. I just wish it was there for more fights or all of them.

In castle town, there's also the issue of many features being time locked or only able to be done once, which is really weird to me, such as party dojo missions unable to be replayed, and during atleast chapter 4's castle town segments, having every mission besides one, missing. Really strange and kind of kills alot of the chilling-out-and-replaying-minigames vibe castle town has as a break from the story action, and a feature id really like to see atleast eventually is an ability to replay past bosses (possibly with skill ranking too, expanding on chapter 3's battle grading). It could even work in lore with the Sekiro method of just having it be remembering bosses/daydreaming/just any lore method that makes it not something thats actually happening, and toby fox is clearly capable of non canon gameplay features, so this one would be super awesome and fun to me. Theres also 2 other chapter 3 minigames that you can replay in chapter 3 but arent brought over to castle town, which is weird to me. I know i'd like to grind out ranks on susiezilla, but whatever.

That's about it for the major criticisms, so i'll end the review here. Still, like top 5 games ever.

Good and charming, however it's short length kind of saved it for me, as the gameplay loop starts to drag with how little stamina there is to fight or move around, there's also an inequality with weapon types depth with only a few weapons actually having a good amount of directional attacks leading to weapons like the halberds just being more fun and useful than say, daggers. Especially daggers. In general with the stamina resource system it had me not budgeting in a fun way but rather having to wait and do nothing for periods of time while fighting. It just isn't very fun with how it is rn. also music being constant did get tiring too.
