The Dark Queen of Mortholme is a (very) short game that explores the unusual dichotomy between an unrelenting, adaptable Hero and an undying, everlasting Dark Queen of unrivaled power. The succinct tale alludes to topics of personal growth and inevitability, and can be evocative, tragic, and moving all at once. It is introspective, funny, and even touching.

*Though mainly through the use of her oversized mace.

'Tis very enjoyable.

Ultimately, the game is a novelty; albeit, an interesting one, and a single playthrough can be completed in about twenty minutes. (Chasing down an elusive achievement will take more time, of course.) Having noted all that, it'll be up to each of us to determine if that's worth the time and price for the game for themselves. Personally, I found it quite entertaining, and it's certainly different from the usual fare of games out there.
