Bungie cooked. I played about 40+ hours during the Alpha and Beta's, each time the game showed more polish and more elements. The uniqueness of the PvEvP experience really makes each interaction risky and adrenaline filled. It has that classic Bungie gunplay that makes guns feel weighted and powerful.
It's fun to play as both a serious extraction shooter as well as a free sponsor loadout battle royale.

D2 Vet with 4500 hours or so:
Kepler is a fun destination, Lodi is great, and the story makes sense. The first half of the story is a little slow in comparison to the latter half, but is overall good solo. 8/10
Be careful of the orb mechanics if you're motion sick, but supposedly Bungie is fixing that within the launch month.

The weapons on Kepler as well as the armor set bonus are nothing to write home about, but are good.

The armor system changes are excellent, I know some armor types don't exist (yet?), but having every point count toward your build rather than having 1-9 wasted stats like in the old system is an excellent change. Armor hasn't changed substantially since D2's release, and having armor set bonuses really leans into the LOOTER shooter this was always meant to be. I can't believe you guys didn't like this back in Gambit Prime...

The content feels a little light overall, as a lot of work was done for the new Portal system, which is technically better for getting to an activity quickly, but I do wish that the director would get updated and allow us Destiny boomers to continue to use it as our primary way of getting around. The old director gave the destinations some character, let us see the different locations we've visited and for me contains nostalgia. I don't want this game to become MORE menus, and wish the portal had a little more flair for the locations and activities. The portal is good, but also doesn't contain all the old activities that you still have to dig through the director for (like any old raid or dungeon). I assume this will slowly move over as time goes on, but I think it should have a little more location/world flair to it's selections.

However, with it feeling light off the bat, they should be allowed to come out swinging with Ash and Iron in Sept. and Renegades in Dec.. Here's hoping

If you're a fan of the hardcore mode in other shooters like CoD and Battlefield, you'll feel right at home playing Insurgency. The weapons are balanced so the player is free to use what they like. You get free content updates with new maps and guns a few times a year. The game requires only a little bit of teamwork to have a great time.
