My feelings for this game are well described by other similarly negative reviews, though my lack of enjoyment of the game was big enough to prevent me spending more than a hour and change on it - 20 minutes of which were spent with me having what i thought was a game journalist moment trying to figure how to get the bow, tried everything and decided to look up the solution, annnnnd it was a documented bug that requires you to reload your checkpoint to fix. That killed the mood pretty bad.

Another annoyingly frequent glitch I was having was something to do with animations, where animals and other characters just slid around the floor as if their animation was stuck mid-frame, very bizarre. On the 40 or so minute mark (accounting for the bug above) on the section where you get caught in the bear trap, it was... comical, to see frozen wolves just gliding across the air toward me.

Still on the topic of graphics issues, the head-bob is... nauseating. Primary reason i had to drop the game so quick, I'm used to bobbing, I can handle fast-paced action games with lots of screen movement, but the weird screen bobbing and shaking and snapping just got me very nauseated.

And the story... I mean, I didn't get to see much of it, but *damn*, the little I got of it was very repetitive, poorly explained and felt like it was rushing me, like other reviewers have pointed out, it felt like a poorly written action movie.

Unfortunately, I don't think I will be returning to this game.

All the game's help text is obviously written by AI and not revised, being a slopbucket of circular statements that lead nowhere and don't provide any actual help or tell you how the game works. The content is just... Not explained. At all. Game is terribly optimized and lags a LOT when changing menus, upgrading, or... doing anything really.

Unfortunately I'm already well past the 2 hour window for a refund. I cannot in good conscience recommend this game in it's current state - Maybe it was better closer to it's release date, but it definitely hasn't aged well.

First of all, with the technical issues: This game is a mess of bugs and graphical issues, and severely lacks polish. In just twelve hours of gameplay i've already suffered two crashes so bad that they've made it difficult to just use my computer in general! Most recently I had to restart my computer because the game locked onto a "Missing database item, Item ID=0 error" for some reason. The graphics are also a mess: There is no native Borderless Windowed Fullscreen option, leaving you to either play the game in a windowed state or in a fullscreen state that's really irritating and keeps trying to resize the system default. More than that, the graphics are clearly not designed to be run used a higher resolution screen - I'm running on 1080p and several icons and graphics are noticeably choppy around the edges, as if they've been scaled up with no proper sampling. There are several smaller bugs in the game that are also really grating - Ammo completely disappearing when weapons are stacked has to be #1 in the list of "Extremely annoying bug"

Moving on to the game aspects - The game's premise is really interesting, but unfortunately it's shown to be a drag and in my personal opinion is really poorly executed. The first big snag that gets me is the NPC Behavior - They clearly went for a very cliche "Everyone is a lunatic!" approach. It's not even a believable "The end of the world is upon us, we're all gonna die!" sort of behavior. I can't say any of the NPC's act in a concise or realistic manner in a storytelling sense, and it's gotten really grating and abrasive. The fact that Dialogue "tree" is just a dialogue line and your choice of words really doesn't end up mattering in the end. (And, if it does, it's not reflected at all in any of the dialogue lines. Trust me, I had to replay long segments of dialogues with NPC's due to crashes and all the alternatives just lead to the same responses) For a RPG that offers having to manage your base's morale and relationships... Not a good look, at all. Another fact that's really irritating is that all the NPC's i've met in the world so far are IMMEDIATELY hostile and murderous. No warning shots, no "Go away!", no "We don't want no trouble.", no opportunity to talk things through... They just come running out guns blazing with zero awareness for their surroundings trying to bash your skull in. It's irritating. The base building part seems really interesting - However I couldn't get too far into the game to see what's possible or not, and several options seem to be locked between very high skill requirements. I wonder if you're forced as the player character to maximize those skills or if a skilled enough survivor can be found - I couldn't tell.

Finally, what really breaks the game is the Combat. In all honesty, the combat is an uninteresting slog. For starters the complete lack of Stealth mechanics other than the dB meter is already a huge detriment - Stealth and sneaking have been a major part of RPG games since their beginning and you decide to not have one in a Zombie RPG of all things? I was at first optimistic with the tutorial where you're clearly shown sneaking behind a zombie to deliver fatal damage, but the in-game experience is completely different, as zombies will ALWAYS (and I mean always) detect you as soon as you come within their "Range", which i've noticed to be 4 or 5 tiles. You can always bum-rush the zombies by starting combat juuust outside their range and then dropping in and dealing some damage, but considering most weapons take 3 or 4 AP to use and you'd have to walk into position, you're left with one, maybe two attacks, which even on a party of 4 is sometimes not enough to kill a zombie. In every altercation with a zombie i've had so far I was forced to take a free hit from a zombie because of this. The combat RNG in general is also extremely annoying, i've found - come on, how hard is it to hit a human-sized target 3 feet in front of you with a hammer? That doesn't take training, the only difference there would be the difference between a "hit" and a "good hit". There's also no good easy way to see what each status effect does. I've tried hovering, clicking, menu-ing, etcetera - I had to resort to external information sources to know what each status effect did.

All in all, my experience with the game so far hasn't been completely terrible - it was rather entertaining, but the game is severely lacking. As a matter of fact, i'd say that due to the significant lack of polish the game seems less like a finished product and more like an early access. As if the developer had said "Meh, good enough." before pushing the publish button - and that's considering that the game had a whole update two years after release, Reanimated.

I think this game could benefit immensely from a second iteration or a complete remake - the combination of Turn-based tactical combat, RPG elements and Post-apocalyptic zombie survival is a really interesting concept, and this game does have elements that shine, but overall it was a distinctively negative experience.

"Ultra" Settings are a joke, and "Minimum" lags my computer anyway, I've played only for a few hours but it was still a complete waste of time, There is no drive in playing, Since when you spawn in there is already one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with a sniper waiting for you in every single location, 'rare' loot spawns ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anywhere, and to get to any other place you either have to be the luckiest idiot in the world to get a vehicle or you need to spend thirty freaking minutes to walk to any other location, only to be killed by another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥; there isn't a single official PvE server, and all decent PvE private servers are either full or high-ping.

All in all, The game is flat out boring. Bad execution ruined yet another high-promise game. (I call it the No Man's Game syndrome)

Straight of the bat with the graphics- They're amazing for a Free to play game (even though the anti-aliasing in menus and icons needs some working) everything is customizable and there are a lot of options for character design, and same goes for all the maps, which have excellent texturing.
Onto the maps- of all of the ones i've played so far, they're quite good, but the game needs some team-team balancing, seeing some teams have easier access to strategic/camping areas that the other team does not, giving unfair advantage.
Still on the map balancing, CQB maps need some -real- reworking and rebalancing, those small maps have some real tilt-edge design that makes sure that one team will almost ceirtainly win, if the players aren't complete newbies that is.
Onto the prices of things and rewards: the GP reward for missions is kinda small, but thats okay, because your main income is going to come from daily missions and weekly rewards, the GP prices are really well balanced and I love that, and as long as you don't spend money with too many weapons and try to customize them all, you'll get enough reward money to keep buying that weapon and never run out of it. and while the GP prices are really good, the gem prices are really bad - well, not all of them, more specifically, cosmetic painting.
I understand that caps, beards, goggles, helmets and all that should have a higher price, and with 120 gems per purchase, that price is very agreeable, but not the paints - I love winter camo, so much i wanted to paint my favorite M4 with full winter camo- accessories and everything, and i saw that the price for winter camo paint was 70 gems so i went 'yeah thats okay', so i go painting my accessories... and then the price was over 400 gems, for paint.
While i don't think the prices of things like armor paint (because you're changing a lot of texture there) should be reduced (the 70 gems are okay for armor) the prices of weapon paints should be drastically reduced- i don't know how you guys balance that in the studios, but maybe 10-15 gems for attachments and 20-30 for the weapon body?
Psionics are also a real lot of fun - while i don't really use the PK ones, I love the ESP's, my favorite so far is Decoy (I honestly love throwing one and running the opposite direction, then watch as my enemies shower it with bullets and then kill them all with headshots from behind- truly wonderful) and it is a mechanic which i haven't seen in many games, and the ones where i see, they aren't really balanced, in the case of this game, the AP-HP/Time recovery balancing of such skills is rather good. (even though i think some of the offensive ones need a slight buffing)

Enough babblin' - TL;DR:
Game is good, Graphics are kickass, Needs some rebalancing in maps and gems prices and they really need to work on menu icons because they're the ugliest things since my face, 7.5/10 would play this instead of other free-to-plays (or not, i don't know i haven't asked anyone else but thats what i think)

Early Access Review
Its truly an engaging game, I've spent hours here just playing it, and even if i have completed all the quests, gathered all the ores and made the strongest armors, i still feel like theres so much more to explore, find and encounter.
