Creaks is a really cool game. Honestly, my biggest gripe is the fact that I've finished it and there's no more to play. The ending was admittedly a high point though. They really know how to build an interconnected map, and despite communication mostly being through gestures, I got really attached to the characters. There were definitely some surreal aspects, and not all of my questions were answered. But I feel like it was a great experience, one I wouldn't be surprised if I came back to one day.

For me there are three main aspects to a game.

The graphics were rough but detailed, the whole game dripping in atmosphere and charm. As a world it's elaborate and well put together, and there's a lot to look at in just about every place you find yourself in. They also really nailed the secret world feeling, the opening sequence before you really get going was phenomenal. Some of the paintings are, however, very strange.

It isn't the kind of story with a lot of depth and intrigue. But it has a simple and engaging premise with characters that have a lot of personality. I never wondered why I was doing something, because I was always caught up in the momentum. The world-building in the background also leaves you wondering about a lot of things as you go forward.

Gameplay is solid. The puzzles really hit the perfect balance for me. Difficult enough to keep me engaged, but not so much that it got frustrating. There are plenty of satisfying moments where it all clicks together. And there was only one puzzle I was really stumped on. Had to give myself a break and come back to that one. Also, and this might be minor, but the movement felt very grounded. Actually traversing each puzzle felt good.

Overall, I'd say this is really worth picking up.
