First off let me just say I have had a great time playing this game with a lot more to come.

Pros:

First off for the pros for HOI4. If you are like me and when you want to relax and just enjoy yourself while trying to just chill this is a solid choice. Once you understand the basics of the game you can dive into the more advanced mechanics and play styles of the game making for countless hours of fun. In my case I decided to set a bit of a challenge and get the hardest / Least completed achievements. When the new DLC came out I completed 5 of the new achievements in around 4ish hours. Some where very easy to complete while others made you think about the steps involved and the best coarse of action to go down. Next you have the graphics for the game being another big plus. In my experience playing RTS games, a lot of the greatest titles all came out between 10-15 years ago. Even though the game came out around 7 years ago it looks like it came out just last week. The Dev team and the staff in general in charge of HOI4 are amazing at their work ethic to keep the game expanding every year. They add new DLC's with new achievements, new country focus trees, new visuals, etc. While on topic of the Dev Team and its staff I would just like to through this in here, THEY LISTEN TO THEIR COMMUNITY! I've played so many games now where the dev team almost never listens to the community feedback and just do what they want its getting hard to count its so high. They actively participate with the community letting them know whats going on giving us sneak peaks all the time, consistent updates on how thing are progressing with new DLC's or anything their working on. Lastly for my major point in the pro section, Its great for multiplayer games. Wether you are playing against your friends in a friendly game or doing co-op it is great fun all the time. Games like Civ & Age of empires get kind of old after a while since you know whats best to win after you've played the game for a good minute. With HOI4you cant really do that since there are so many different routes one country can take. Weather their Communist, Fascist, Non-Aligned, or Democratic determines how they treat each other. If that player has Puppet countries, they stage coups to help them win and gain allies, their military, where they are in the map, etc. There are so many variables to define a win.

Cons:

The game is a bit more complicated than some RTS Games like Civ, Age of empires, etc. They have tried to touch on this by adding a video help guide in the game (which i wish was in the game when i started). My advise for the best experiance to learn is have a friend who understands the game help teach you the Very basics ( What does what, and what means what). The game itself once you learn the bare-bones of how the game is played is actually way more simple than it seems, its just the first step you take is a bit odd. If you are a new player I would HIGHLY recommend waiting to get any DLC until you have had a chance to play the base game and get a feel for it as a whole. Since most of the DLC's expand into counties focus tree's and change mechanics of the game to go more in depth its way way way easier to find out if you like the game or not. Now some people are DLC all the way and that's the best way to play, while I generally agree I don't want to be someone who is telling new players to buy 100$ worth of DLC's just to hate it. Take your time in learning the game and go from there!

If you made it this far I hope this review helped you decide to try the game or not. :D <3
