I would love to recommend this game, however it is so poorly optimized that it is impossible to truly play. I have done everything I can to try and make this game run better and it just will not. Tons of stuttering and lags, especially when things get intense, but even occasionally braking a few boxes. For a Souls-like where timing is everything, really ruins the experience. I loved the first game, and this one seems nothing but an improvement everywhere except optimization.

It's a game all about timing, but it stutters and runs terrible right now. I had to give up despite wanting to keep going.

I am loving this game. I have had it on my wishlist since before it came out and just finally decided to buy it 5 months later when it was on sale, thinking I would enjoy it here or there but not enough to justify buying it right away, I even skipped a few sales. But now that I finally got it, it's the only game that I actually want to play and am enjoying right now. The overall atmosphere and vibe of the game is just perfect, whether hauling loads or hunting for scrap. This game is the perfect mix of relax, but pay attention for me. If you relax too much you start crashing into debris or other trucks, so it keeps you engaged and I love it. Planning trips so you find the right stores that will pay extra for the items you are hauling in the cab adds an extra layer to it as well that I enjoy. The only thing that worries me is after story missions and I fully upgrade my truck I'm not sure what will keep me going, but for now that's many hours away still!

New mechanics are really cool and made me start enjoying the game again a bit, until I got back to hazard 4 and 5. The tedium is still there and its a false difficulty. Difficulty is still "throw more enemies at them." In order to play the game with this, you have to attack 1 time, run away for a minute, attack 1 time, run away, etc etc until the level is beat. If you even try to do a combo you get stun locked by 5+ enemies attacking at slightly different times and are dead. Boring and trash way to make difficulty scale in a game. Enemies being harder is fine, but endless mobs of enemies is just stupid. As of now, I still don't recommend until the endgame is better balanced.

Really want to like this game, but I find it more frustrating and a chore to play than fun. Overall the idea and gameplay is fun, but when you start getting into higher difficulties its just such a fake difficulty that they put in the game and it ruins it entirely. The "difficulty" comes from larger hordes of enemies at once with less ability to stun, or staggering their attacks just enough you have to constantly dodge. I don't know how many times Ive had a huge group of enemies in a combo, then take them into the air just to get hit and a huge chunk of health taken just because I missed one or 2 in my combo and they attack me while I am in the air juggling enemies and have no chance to dodge. I want to like this game but once I got to danger level 5, maybe a little even in 4, its just such a chore.

Honestly, reviewing it late after my initial play through, but I loved this game. I played it through with one of my gaming buddies and we enjoyed every bit of it, from the competitive mini games, the story, and the puzzles. I have been thinking about playing through it again, and am excited to do it! Long story short, if you like some mild puzzles and have a friend or significant other to play this with, it is definitely worth it even for just one play through.

Online doesn't work at all, not even hosting a private game with friends. REMOVE THE INFO FROM THE STORE OR FIX IT. That is literally the only reason I bought the game.

Step 1: Require always online.
Step 2: Make sure servers can't handle it.
Step 3: Profit.
For the most part, these issues are fixed.

However, the game has 1, maybe 2 viable builds to play as, try anything else on anything other than the first 5 world tiers (difficulty) then you are getting nowhere. This game forces you to mindlessly slog through the game on the easiest difficulty OR play a specific build. The Demo only went up to WT 6, so I bought this game under the impression it would be fun and worth it, once you start getting passed that point you begin to realize how little choice you get in building your character. Knowing what I know now would I buy this game? Absolutely not. If its not on sale for 20 or less, avoid it for now. Whats even more hilarious is this game is about all these awesome powers, and the better builds are all about guns and 1 skill, not about the abilities. Absolute joke right now.

Edit 5-19-21
The devs have continued to make changes to the game to make the only viable builds WEAKER so now it is a chore to try and get any progress made. They expect you to grind hours in the lower levels until you can get the most perfect build you've ever seen, then continue to do the same on higher difficulties to get the same gear but higher level, or until you get enough resources to upgrade all of the pieces. And if you do get the perfect gear for the 1 build that works, good luck because half the time the game doesn't register you completing actions needed to keep the build going. For instance the build I am using requires you to use a skill powering up the ammo coming from your gun. For this build to remain in any way useful, you need to keep up the ammo in the magazine via mods so the skill has huge uptime and hardly any down time/recharge. I have a mod that gives me 40% and another giving me 30% of my ammo back per kill, keeping me from draining the magazine and continuing to benefit from the ammo in the magazine. The problem is that there are far too many times the game doesn't register my shot getting the kill, and therefore me not getting ammo back. The skill has just under 60 seconds for recharge (was like 26 when game first released) and during those 60 seconds I am next to useless. The game forces a specific play style and then screws you when you try to play it do to not registering correctly. And before anyone tries to comment that maybe the enemies die to a status effect and not my bullet, yes I understand that would not cause my mods to trigger and give me ammo, but I was literally blasting into a bunch of weak enemies, killed 6 of them, I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ counting, and none of them refilled my ammo, and then I died because I ran out of my skill rounds, and was using a basic gun, unable to do any of the DPS I should have been doing.

Every update or "improvement" the devs do on this game just ruins it more and more to the point where I honestly don't want to touch this garbage because they try to force grinding an absurd amount and gaining one level for it only to rinse and repeat 30 more times. All that for a seemingly random next Expedition that you've beat 1000 times on the same difficulty now slaughtering you out of nowhere. Game is in a terrible place and the devs are continuing to make it worse. I had hopes for this game, I was excited, and now I feel like I have been cheated out of my time and my money.
