I played the demo of this game and followed it's development; this is a fantastic hidden object game made by developers who care. If you're into hidden object games, this is a must-have.

Levels feel carefully crafted with every little corner hiding something; there's lots of loot and optional goodies to find on top of the main objectives, and you can spend your gems to customise your mascot, aesthetics and even your cursor. The base game is a good enough challenge as it is, but Hard Mode also exists if you want something more "mentally stimulating" as the game puts it.

The music and overall aesthetics of the game are gorgeous, and it runs very well for how good it looks. Each level has a story and I got many laughs out of seeing all the ridiculous situations present in the levels, whether it's dogs invading a cat fortress or a spider eating a baguette. There's loads of achievements to obtain as well, so a full playthrough will keep you busy for a long while.

Overall, this is a well refined and carefully crafted game. Even if you're not a huge fan of hidden object games, this one might sway you. 10/10

Epic Battle Fantasy 5 is great, both as a part of the series and in its own right. There is so much to praise about this game and so little to criticise, it's a genuinely enjoyable experience from the very first moment - and I'll preface this review by saying you don't need to own any of the other EBF games to enjoy this one.

The gameplay is simple on the surface, but there are so many ways to play, and you can do a lot with the five characters you're given. Each character has their own interesting personality and attitude, even NoLegs, who is literally a cat. If you've played the previous 4 games, you'll know the characters, but given that this is a reboot of the series, they're all much different - less trope-y and cliche and more fleshed out this time around. Except for NoLegs, who is still a cat.

I haven't completed the whole story yet (not even halfway), but it's certainly interesting. It's nice to see one of the series' most popular foes actually given some lore. The writing is really good, and there's a lot of witty dialogue. There's no big exposition dumps at least, so thank god for that.

The game LOOKS amazing. Everything looks very clean and colourful, which matches the tone of the game very well. The paper-cutout cutscenes look much better than they did in EBF4 (where they looked pretty good already), and each piece of weaponry, armour and flair is creative and unique. I'm pretty sure this is the only game on Steam where you can dress a cat up in riot gear, viking fur and a ninja headband at once, accompanied by a small drone and a fake mustache. So that's something. Did I mention he could summon literal gods?
Attack animations are where the game really shines. You can really feel the weight of your attacks hitting the target, especially with skills like Judgment and MOAB. Not to mention the awesome Limit Breaks - if you've never played this game before, use Cleaver as soon as you get it. It looks awesome.

Most importantly, I should highlight how much love and care went into this game. There's 5 of them for a reason, and this is by far the definitive game in the series. Fan feedback didn't fall on deaf ears with this game (some of the enemies were designed by fans and hand-picked to be in the game!) and many features have been added, removed and tweaked based on feedback given to the developer. That, to me, is the difference between a good game and a great game.

A 10/10 from every front for me. Been waiting three years for this game, and before I've even completed it, I know I love it from start to finish.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3 was a fantastic game before, and is a fantastic game now. This updated version is a great introduction into the EBF series, as it's free and simpler than EBF4. If you're unsure about whether or not you want to buy EBF4, play this game first - while EBF3 is much simpler, the core concepts are the same.

This game is full of colour and humour, and has a little something for everyone - oversized weapons, adorable enemies, fantastic boss fights, and anime boobs. While on the outside, the game seems cartoony and silly, the actual gameplay is refined and revolves around a lot of strategy, but has difficulty settings for everyone. On Easy mode you can get away with making mistakes, but on Epic mode you've got to know what you're doing and how you're going to do it. Of course, real men play on Epic mode.

Now, my two favourite parts of the game: the boss fights, and the music. The boss fights in this game are actually quite challenging, but not to a frustrating point. They feel fair but tricky, and each boss has a strategy around it that keeps you on your toes. Each boss is different and brute force only gets you so far.

If you've read any reviews for any EBF-related game before, you'll have heard about the quality of the soundtrack - EBF3 is just one of several games with a fantastic soundtrack. The overworld music sets the atmosphere for each area so well, and the battle music is incredible - particularly the boss fights.

Now, unfortunately I have to compare it to EBF4. 3 is like a bite-size version of 4; both have epic music, great gameplay and interesting characters, but 4 is just so much more refined and polished, and introduces so many new mechanics. However, they're both great games. Chances are if you don't like 3, you probably won't like 4...and if you like 3, you'll love 4. For a free game, EBF3 still has so much going for it.
