It's fun. A bit frustrating sometimes. Not the best balanced game out there, but it's fun.
Some of the new enemies are very annoying, but you can turn them off if you want. I, personally, am just happy I don't have to hunt down the remaining enemies at the end of a stage anymore.

(Also, the Providence Trials are driving me insane. Send help.)

This game is absolutely brilliant.

Great soundtrack, great dialogue, great humor, and the meta aspects do some really interesting stuff. It is a lovely game and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
If I have a complaint about this game it's probably the fact that it left me wanting more, and that is probably the best complaint one can have. It isn't very long and doesn't have much replayability.

A little heads up, it's recommended that you disable Wallpaper Engine while playing.

The Ancient Gods - Part Two is honestly much more fun than part one.

Unlike the first part of the DLC, the enemies this one adds aren't a pain in the ass to fight.
The armored barons aren't too different from just fighting a regular baron, so it doesn't disrupt your gameplay.
Stone Imps are really just an excuse to get you to use the auto shotgun, but at least that mod is actually fun to use, even if it's not very good.
Riot soldiers are... there, I guess.
Cursed prowlers curse you, making you unable to dash or target them until you blood punch them. This sounds like terrible design but I've ever only been hit once by one of them so I can't complain.
There are Screechers, that are fodder that buffs enemies when you kill them. Just avoid killing them and you should be fine, and even if you do kill them, dealing with the buffed enemies isn't too bad.
There are these soldiers in the last level that can't be chainsawed or glory killed, and this would sound bad if it wasn't because they are basically ammo piñatas anyways.

The DLC also adds a new mechanic to platforming which actually uses the SSG's meathook, and I always felt that not using it on the base game's platforming sections was a missed opportunity so that's cool.

This DLC also adds the most overpowered weapon in your arsenal: The Sentinel Hammer. It makes a shockwave that falters enemies, gives you ammo and boosts the armor and health drops from burned and frozen enemies. It also makes Marauders a walk in the park. And you might be wondering: How do I charge it? Well, just break two enemy weakpoints or glorykill two enemies. That's it. It's even easier to charge than early basegame bloodpunch. It's genuinely just stupidly powerful.

Unlike part one, this DLC doesn't try to be particularly difficult. Hell, the most difficult encounters are actually optional. This part of the DLC is, instead, just plain fun. There are several encounters that are just there to be fun rather than challenging, giving you all the tools to just destroy some demons without much effort.

As per individual levels, I would say the first one was pretty good, the second one is great, and the last one is epic. A problem you may have with the level design, however, is that it has no secrets, so if you're like me you'll spend a considerable amount of time looking for things that aren't there. I guess it's more of a problem with my approach than anything else, though.

Oh, and there's the final boss. It's... disappointing. The Dark Lord isn't much more than just a glorified Marauder with 5 healthbars, except he's somehow easier to fight than a regular marauder.

While this DLC has a lot of things I didn't really like, it really isn't bad. Let me start off by saying this DLC's content is hard, and sometimes not exactly in a good way.

The DLC starts with an amazing first level that's a blast. It also adds 1 enemy: The Turret. There really isn't much to say about it. You just shoot it a couple of times and it dies. I love the first level (though it's a shame you can't punch the sharks). Probably the lowest point of this level is just having to fight two marauders at once, which is manageable, but I just don't like marauders. Aside from that it's a fun level with fun design.

The second level... the level's visuals are great, and I love the concept, but this is where things start going downhill.
This level introduces a new enemy and a modified version of an already existing enemy.
The modified enemy is just those snake ones from the base game except invisible.
The new enemy is the thing I despise the most in this entire game: The spirit. This enemy buffs a heavy (or better) demon, making it much faster, stronger and resistant. The buffed enemy also can't be faltered, can't be frozen, and its weakpoints can't be destroyed. This basically doubles the enemy's health, and now they have no weakness to exploit. And you might be thinking "Well, just kill the spirit." No. Wrong. You can't do that. You have to kill the buffed demon (which is now a huge bullet sponge. A mancubus buffed by one of these can survive a BFG shot) before being able to kill the spirit, and you have to kill it using specifically the microwave beam because absolutely nobody used it in the base game. I wouldn't hate this enemy so much if the game wasn't so intent in using it all the time.
The level wraps up with an okay bossfight that's actually sort of interesting.

And now, the third and last level: The Holt.
Not a fan of this level either. It adds one last heavy demon to the DLC: The Blood Maykr. It's basically the big brother of the Maykr drone. It has a shield that goes down when it does big attacks so you can kill it with a headshot. The annoying part is that if it hits you with a big attack it also slows you down, but at least they can be killed in one shot so it's not too bad.
The level, however, keeps using the bullet-sponge-making spirits to make sure you grow to hate them before going to the second DLC. Not a fan of the soundtrack on this level either.
Near the end of the level you fight a possessed tyrant, which is just the biggest bullet sponge they could throw at you. You just shoot it until it dies.
And now, for the final boss of this DLC we have the worst boss in the entire game. The boss himself isn't too hard. A bit of a pushover, really. However, every other phase he just spawns 2 possessed enemies and until you kill the spirits possessing them the boss is just completely invulnerable and it's a genuinely unfun fight. Really the only difficulty the fight has is the fact that you have to fight 2 bullet sponges. It's just annoying.

And you might be thinking "Oh, but why do you recommend it if you complain so much" and the answers are simple:
1- The DLC isn't really all that bad, but I just really had to complain somewhere about spirits and the final boss.
2- I may be a bit of a masochist. And I enjoy a challenge.

This game is an absolute blast from beginning to end. That's really the best way I can put it.

It gives you so much mobility with the dash that I don't think I'll ever be able to play Doom 2016 again. Not only that, but you also get a grappling hook on your super shotgun, which automatically makes this a good game. The combat has a lot more depth than its predecessor and almost every part of the game's "combat puzzle" just clicks in place with the new weaknesses enemies have and the new tools you are given to deal with them.
Combat sections are often separated by small platforming sections that I mostly like. They aren't too long or too hard. They are just there to give you a little breath between fights.
The game is visually stunning, with each level being different from the others so no two levels feel the same, though I do prefer the darker ambience 2016 had, the new more cartoonish one still fits the game's gameplay quite well. The soundtrack is also amazing. Mick Gordon did a great job with it.
The game is extremely well optimized. Hell, I'm pretty sure it runs better than 2016 would on my computer.

The game's story... it has plotholes, it contradicts some things from 2016 and it doesn't make too much sense but I don't really care much about that.

Now, things I didn't like because I have to say something bad about it:
The Marauder just kinda breaks the flow of the game. He just feels out of place. There are ways to one-cycle him, though.
The game spams you with intrusive tutorials. It's not just pop-up screens telling you how things work, but the game just takes you out of the level to a little tutorial room teaching you how to use whatever it is you just unlocked.
A few weapon mods are just... bad. The shotgun's full auto is fun, but it's so much worse than the sticky bombs. Hell, it doesn't even out-DPS the SSG. It just kind of burns through your ammo. The microwave beam is slow and situational. The rocket launcher's remote detonation... exists, I guess.
And there's also this purple sludge in some levels that just... slows you down and doesn't let you jump and it's just annoying.

I can't talk about the multiplayer because I haven't played it.

This game might be short, and you may not have a lot to do in it, but it still managed to be one of the most beautiful experiences I've had with a game. In fact, it's one of the few games that actually made me shed a tear.

The scenery in this game is absolutely gorgeus, and has beautiful orchestral music to go with it (this game's OST was the first videogame album to be nominated for a grammy. Think about that.). To see all this with a companion by my side, who was faceless, nameless and basically voiceless, yet still a companion I felt a connection to, was a beautiful experience, even if they thought I was an AI most of the time.

-There isn't enough Zote.
-There are too many bugs, Zote could solve that.
-Zote is too underpowered, he doesn't even use 1% of his power in this game.
-We don't get to play as Zote.
-Primal Aspids 2 OP pls nerf.
-W H I T E P A L A C E.
-Gaem 2 hard, took me 69 hourse to get past hornet and to get out of the Mantisland, Mantis Town or whatever it's called
-I still can't git gud

0/10 until they add Zote DLC.

(Now for real, buy the game, it's great in almost every aspect.)
