When I initially tried Helldivers 2, I was instantly hooked. The moment a play session ended, I was looking forward to the next. The game is an absolute blast and I think you just need to try it for yourself to know. You get a good idea of the game very quickly so if you don't like it you can always refund it before the 2 hours has passed.

Here is the most important factors to why I like the game:

Innovative and Fun Gameplay
They have truly unique ideas that have been brought together to modify the shooter genre in a cohesive way. For example, the stratagem system where you press a series of buttons to activate special weapons. A lot of these are different types of explosions or other uncontrollable weaponry which works well with the team having many shared lives since it then does not matter that you accidentally kill yourself or your teammates a couple of times.

They have also done a good job of making you challenge yourself by making it worthwhile to play on the hardest difficulty you can muster since this rewards you better and unlocks new content such as new side missions and new types of enemies.

Great Community
They have done well in cultivating a casual and fun community. It is common that you meet friendly people and very rare that you meet toxic people.

Fair Monetisation
This is one of the few games I have ever bought microtransactions in because they are priced fairly. When you purchase microtransactions in Helldivers 2, you get your money's worth which means you get significantly more for your money than in other games. On top of this, you can also get their premium currency through playing the game - but it is a bit slow. Their battlepasses also do not expire so you can always buy and progress in the old battlepasses.

Note On Current Reviews
As of writing this review, the game's reviews are overall 73% positive and recently 50% positive.

I do not think these reviews reflect the quality or state of the game, and it definitely deserves way more positive reviews. It seems that this is caused by a controversy they had with a PlayStation login requirement (which was backtracked again due to the backlash) and, more recently, a balancing patch that some people did not like. I saw a review of someone with 400 hours on the game giving it a negative review because their favorite weapon was nerfed. This is not someone that dislikes the game but just someone that hopes to get the developer's attention.

A must have for any VR owner out there.
As a bonus to being really fun, it acts as a perfect introduction into VR for any newcomers since the only movement happening in the game is your own which eliminates most sources of motion sickness.

Their recent announcement where they state that they'll be shutting down the servers for the game genuinely irritated me. By shutting down the servers they render the game entirely useless and literally unplayable, which is a slap in the face to anyone who bought the game and shows that they care little about their fanbase. I don't mind the fact that they're shutting down the servers in general, what I mind is that they only gave a months notice of them shutting down their servers, which is an insanely small amount of time; even the dead and forgotten game Battleborn has given a one year notice of their server shutdowns. To compare, Battleborn has an average of 12 players online at all times (Steam only) and Deathgarden has an average of 84*.
This should act as a warning to anyone who is contemplating to buy any of Behaviour Digitals current or future games, as they have just now proven that any money or time spent in any of their games can be made redundant in the stretch of a single month.

The server shutdowns were inevitable, but they could have handled it differently; either they could have given a much longer notice of the server shutdowns, they could have developed tools for players to host their own servers and matches or they could have developed P2P** for the game.

The game had a nice concept as its backbone, so it's quite sad to see the game go. It had its problems, but nothing that couldn't be fixed through updates - but I guess Behaviour Digital didn't want to put in the effort.

Footnotes:
* Measured as the 30-day average on steamcharts.com on 07/12/2019
** P2P (Peer to Peer) is a way to handle networking in a game. When dedicated servers are being used every player connets to a server and the server acts as a middle man between players, so the players never directly send or receive information from each other. With P2P the players directly exchange information to each other about the current state of the match. Usually there's a single player through which all the information goes (essentially replacing the server). This would still require Behaviour Digital to keep a minimal amount of servers open as matchmaking, players' unlocks of customization and such needs to be handled by a server.

This game is actually quite good.

Quantum Break is basically half game, half TV-series. The gameplay consists of you running around shooting enemies, collecting stuff around the environment and upgrading your abilities. However, the gameplay isn't why this game is good; the gameplay is fairly mediocre. Where this game really shines, is it's story. I found myself being annoyed everytime the game threw enemies my way, because I just wanted to progress the story.

You can't experience the entire story just playing the game though. Occasionally there'll be a TV-series episode that you'll have to watch (but you can skip it if you want) that fills in any missing information about the story that the game didn't tell you. These episodes are of high quality and I'm guessing that they last between 30 to 45 minutes each (I didn't time it).

So this game isn't entirely a game, but that's okay to me.
(btw, the graphics are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing and using your powers in combat feels awesome)

The story is really great. If you want a game with constant action, this is not the game for you, but if you want a game with great story and replayability, then this the game for you.
